Bottle. Poured a hazy yellow color with an average white creamy head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate yeast, rye bread and sweet candy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium yeast sweet flavor with a smooth candy sweet finish of average duration. Soft drinkable brew. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 23, 2013
500ml bottle in a stem glass. Pours transparent, copper with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of pale and caramel malts, light spiciness, a little dough, and some light hops. Flavor the same with a sweet finish. Average texture. Decent, but not the best. radarsock (1193) - Massachusetts, USA - JUN 20, 2013
$3.45 for the 500mL bottle purchased at Charles Street Liquors. To undersized snifter, it pours a hazy light rust with which sustained a frothy whitish head exactly 1 finger in length and then vanishes to almost nothing. Aromas of peanut brittle, straw, rye, sweet potatoes, salted caramel, edamame, and grass. Tastes of rye malt, bittersweet hops, lemon peels, ginger, pottery clay, and cotton. Orange peel and yeast by swallow. Another solid lager from Jack’s. egg (391) - USA - JUN 19, 2013
Pours clear straw with a thin white head. Little, spotty lacing. Little aroma, some straw. Not much else. Taste is little hops bitterness, earthy, straw, not much else.

Growler. Pours golden amber, slight white head, light to medium body. Rye taste is there but not very strong, light hop taste. Esay drinking beer.

500ml bottle, thanks to Mike L. Bottled spring 2013. Mildly hazy amber orange color. Thin off-white head. Some loose bits of lace. Medium body. Smooth, lighter carbonation, lightly soft. Lightly dry texture. Nice lightly spicy, lightly toasty rye malt character. Moderate sweet taste, very lightly spicy. Nice biere de garde. Good complex flavor. Bottle. Clear copper pour with smallish white head. Peppery rye aroma, wet, grain, a bit dirty, quite a bit of yeast. Caramel flavor, lots of black pepper, rye, bready, toasty. Chewy palate, a bit undercarbed with a semi-sweet finish. b3shine (8872) - Indiana, USA - JUN 6, 2013
.5L bottle to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks good for the style; a semi-transparent orange with white lacing. Smells doughy and spicy. Tastes like it smells with a pleasant mouthfeel. A nice take on the style. BroSpud (2188) - , Massachusetts, USA - APR 24, 2013
.5 liter bottle. Pours a cloudy light amber with just a film of a white head. Slightly fruity aroma. Sweet but not too sweet. The rye is hidden though it’s there if you are looking for it. Not one of my favorites from Jack but not bad. Dunt (316) - Illinois, USA - APR 19, 2013
Received as part of a box from Allen, thanks for the tick Allen! Pours a dark orange/amber in color with a fingers worth of off-white head that has remarkable head retention. Some pretty significant lacing as I drink my glass. Nose is comprised of pilsner malt and zesty rye with some candied sugar. Taste is dry and spicy with some underlying sweetness that ends up lingering on the finish. Mouthfeel is light, carbonation is lively but on the softer side, light sweetness, dry, and a moderate finish. Pretty nice, balanced beer. I think I prefer their brett’d beer de garde, but this was nice as well. It grows on me the more I drink it.
