COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cloaked in mystery, this dark black beer skirts the line between a schwarzbier and smoked porter. The use of a small percentage of traditional Beechwood smoked malt adds complexity and balances the liberal use of chocolate malt. Notes of roasted grains, beechwood smoke and coffee accompany a full bodied and sweet chocolatey malt character. Smoke & Dagger uses locally sourced ingredients. OG 14.5 Plato

Bottle bought some place I don’t remember. Pours tiny reddish dark brown with a rather small beige head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and smokey with dark bread, toasted oatmeal flakes, sweet liquorice, moist soil, burnt wood, smoke, hay and lemon zest. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, malty and smokey with roasted malts, dark bread, crispbread, burnt wood, dark roast coffee, smoked sausage, hay, liquorice hard candy, ash and soil. Mouthfeel is crisp, tiny dry and light to medium bodied. finish is slightly bitter and slightly malty with roasted malts, crispbread, burnt wood, hay and lemon zest.

Cervesa amb aroma i gust a fumats, com pot ser a bacó, en boca és molt líquida i fàcil de beure. Cerveza con aroma y sabor a ahumados, como puede ser el bacon, en boca es muy líquida y fácil de beber.

Bottle poured a very dark mahogany brown with a thin coat of tan head that fell right to a ring on the glass. Aroma has dark malts, light roast, hazelnuts, and coffee. Mouth feel is mid range but feels a bit light to me for even a porter and the carbonation a bit low. Flavor again has a pleasant mix of malts, roast, light smoke, and again a bit of nuts. I can appreciate the mellow level of smoke as it is just about the level I prefer.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 22B). AROMA: background sweet and roasted malts from the base beer with coffe and chocolate notes. faint smoke notes with balance towards the base beer. some DMS is present. APPEARANCE: dark with a ruby color tint. average tanned head with good retention. TASTE: roasted coffe-like notes with a touch of pleasant and balanced smokiness. some sweet chocolate notes also present. low bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium-low with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a good marriage between a dark lager and smoked malts, that would benefit with a bit more smokiness.

Deep mahogany hued beer with a small khaki colored head. Nose of puffed wheat, smoked grains and faint chocolate. Light body for such a dark presentation. Flavors of light camp fire, bitter chocolate, and lots of caramel sweetness that lead to an almost cotton candy/ash tray finish. Very sweet but very enjoyable.

W aromacie arcyciekawe połączenie czekolady i wędzonki, dość słodko. W smaku również wędzonka, czekolada, trochę ciemnych owoców, raczej wytrawne, czyste, kremowe odczucie w ustach i super pijalność.

Herber, malzig rauchiger Antrunk. Herber im Mittelteil, dabei bleibt die Malzigkeit konstant, die Rauchigkeit nimmt ab. Leicht schokoladiger Abgang, mild röstig, bitterer Einschlag, karamellig. 11/12/11/11/10/11

Bottle at home. Pour is deep brown with a small tan head and light lacing. Big smoky, earthy, caramelly, bready, bacon meat, and toasted bread in the aroma. Taste is semi-salty, meat drippings, nutty, grassy, caramel, campfire, and toasted biscuit. Slick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Decent smoked beer.
