On tap on the premises. czar (9503) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 10, 2016
Pours brown with low-medium beige head. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malt. Taste is of coffee, roasted malt. Palate: Soft carbonation (nitro), medium-full bodied. Overall: Good.
on tap on the premises - nitro. unclear medium dark brown, crimson tint, with a small beige cap, offering some retention and lacing. burnt roastiness, shy smokiness, earthy coffee, light acidity - perhaps overly roasted malted grains and/or coffee beans; woodsy and spicy; few cigarette butts, minerals - salt. moderate carbonation - subdued nitro; light body - oily; balanced if not drying coffee-mineral finish. odd use of malt and coffee grains. regular version prefered here. mathieuc (4000) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 9, 2016
On tap (nitro) at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thin beige veil that leaves spotty lacinf. Nose is of green pepper, smoke and ash. Not quite pushing my limit on the ash but close. Taste is of cold brewed coffee, light ash and green pepper. Medium bodied and smooth, smooth, smooth because of the nitro. Interesting but I thought it could be better. Sample on tap at the brewpub. Clear deep brown pour with thin creamy off white foam (nitro). Aroma is super coffee forward, nice and roasty, fruity nutty caramel coffee aroma. Taste is light, a tad watery, light sweetness with nice coffee roast flavor. Palate is light, a tad too light perhaps with creamy mouthfeel. Good. dnstone (3592) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - SEP 20, 2015
Light coffee aroma and toasted malt. Black color with soft tan head. Light coffee taste with a light roasty taste. Light mouthfeel; delicate but flavorful without being overbearing. For someone who is not a fan of lagers, I enjoy this beer.

Draft at the brewery, great aroma roasted grains, deep ground earthy coffee and yeast. Flavor is a perfect copy of the aroma. Coffee is earthy, toasty and flavorful. Body is medium with a nice ashy feel. Damn fine. bellco33 (838) - Willington, Connecticut, USA - JAN 25, 2015
Poured from growler into a snifter: Pours dirty water brown with almost no head. Aroma of coffee, smoke, and roasted malts. Taste is mildly sweet with lots of coffee and a nice touch of smoke. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, nice beer. jtclockwork (17467) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 18, 2014

draft at Tap & Mallet, brownish black pour, tan head, medium bodied. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate notes, medium smoke, not overpowering. good beer Ron (4219) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 18, 2014
Sampled this at Tap and Mallet total tap takeover. Pours an dark brown with a medium tan head. The aroma has nice roastiness and a slightly sweet dark chocolate and smokiness. The flavor steps up the smokiness and this cuts down on the chocolatey sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium and the finish is roasty lingering to mild smoke and coffee. Same as Smoke and Dagger, but with coffee.
