COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

2001 Vintage thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small, off-white head over a hazed, dark brown body. Aroma of apples, brown sugar, chocolate, hay, honey and prunes. Taste is chocolate, honey, wheat, fruity esters, and frosted Mini-wheat cereal. Light bubbles with a dryish mouthfeel.

NORSAND (134) - Lillestrøm, NORWAY - MAR 29, 2018
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2018 The original “Carlsberg Semper Ardens Abbey Ale”. 14 years old (purchased July 2004), 7.3% ABV. Medium dark reddish brown. Small, short lived. Nose: Sweet, dark caramel/malt notes, mushroom bouillon, autumn forest floor and a hint of mushroom soy sauce. Taste: The arrival is malty with a little sweetness. Malt syrup, dark caramel. Medium to medium light bodied. Low carbonation. Slightly watery exit. Some dryness and roasted coffee in the aftertaste. This 14 year old bottle was clearly past its prime but still quite nice.

Quite good and close to a real belgian abbey beer. Lots of great taste and figs and banana tickles your nose.

It has fine aroma of heavy fruit (plum and raisin), heavy hard roasted malt fullness and a little caramel. The taste is malty. In fact, more malty than expected, but it still reveals the good taste of fruit in the taste most resembles dried fruits (raisin and prune). Lovely fullness and light hoppy notes with dry aftertaste. I agree that it might be a little too heavy in relation to the best Belgian dubbel, but it is moderately sweet beer I would think that most like it. There are people who categorically do not like dark beers, but I think most will have second thoughts if they taste this one.

Flaske. Fladt hvidt/lysbrunt skum, let uklar brun øl. Duft af korn og malt. Smag af korn, malt og sprit. Udemærket fylde og fornærmelse i munden. Udemærket på en varm sommerdag.

ClubGonzo (5683) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 5, 2014
Bottle. Pours a clear dark bronze body with a small white head. Nose is caramel, mild raisins, garam masala (!), hints of bread and sweet cereals. Taste is bitter herbs, caramel, harsh nut fat, hints of burnt sugar, biscuits and faint notes of burnt rubber. Medium body and carbonation. Weird, and not very Belgian really. Feels like something went wrong here.

vipinvelp (4669) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - AUG 31, 2013
Dark brown with light brown foam head. Aroma is pleasant mixture of caramel, numeg and vanille. Taste is litle bittersweet, some caramel, some cinamon. Nice beer. (Velp 201308)

PapaVillum (956) - Valby, DENMARK - AUG 18, 2013
75 cl flaske, 7,3 %, købt i Netto, 18. august 2013. Bedste Jacobsen-øl i min optik! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
