COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Pours a clear, very pale yellow (with a faint greenish glow). Big, fluffy white head with a bit of lacing. Tart, hoppy hay aroma with faint notes of yeast and remote notes of cooked vegetables. Sweet as it warms. A bit vineuse. Sweet and a bit oily flavour, fruity and with notes of hay. Sweet, dry and tart finish. Very little carbonation - probably why it’s called ’velvet’, but it’s not working for me. Overall boring and too sweet in a corn kind of way; I can see where it wants to go, but it’s not working. 25.09.11.

Bottle gift thanks to work colleague and shared with the Mrs - pours clear golden yellow with a diminishing medium white head. Sweet light malty and wheaty, some lemon fruity notes, has a slight sour edge, straw, hay, with a grassy hoppy finish.

Pours crystal clear golden with high but quickly disappearing head. High carbonation and low-bodied. Aroma of champagne/wine and sweet taste with some sourness of champagne. Drinkable but rather not on a regular basis.

Bottle @ the brewery. Pours a clear light body with a small white head. Nose is champagne yeast, grape peel, pale malts and hints of straw and wine gum. Taste is pale malts, grape peel, floral notes and hints of cereals, white sugar and hay. Light body, medium carbonation. A bit sweet, but fair enough.

(from 75 cl bottle @ The Carlsberg Museum; BBD: 02.04.2016) Poured at fridge temperature into a Jacobsen snifter reveals a clear pale golden body with one finger, white head. Decent retention and lace. Aroma is somewhat vinous with slightly tart notes with hints of gooseberries and elderflowers. Oily texture, soft carbonation, light body and a short finish. Flavour follows the nose with no bitterness, a bit of wheat tartness and a little sweetness.

Light crystal beer with hints of elderflower. Light body, very much like sweet sparkling wine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
