Comes out of the tap a hazy dark amber-golden with a nice, fluffy, fine-bubbled pale orange-tan head. Aroma is good and hoppy, promising a better-than-average IPA. Strongly hoppy flavor has a decided evergreen undertone to it. Texture is smooth, fizzy and pleasing. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 20, 2010
on tap at Summits in Cumming. arrived an orange color with a small white head... well blended aromas of caramel malts and deeper hops. very nice medium sized body with a good amount of bitterness (some citrus hop notes throughout the body) balanced by semi sweet malts. nice bitter finish with a well backed malt profile. solid IPA from a startup brewery in GA. Appearance: Dispensed a light copper body, lightly hazed and capped with a finely-textured, white head.
Smell: Aroma of pale malts with a hint of sugary caramel. The hops (Chinook, Sterling, and Cascade) throw off notes of fresh florals, citrus fruits, and (lightly) pine.
Taste: Pale malts with a modest amount of supporting caramel sweetness. Hop flavors present fresh orange peelings, white pine, and humble meadow flowers. Medium bitterness. A bit more maltiness prior to the bittersweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A decent India Pale Ale out of Jailhouse. Any hopheads looking to receive a curb-kicking of hop character and bitterness will be left wanting, but those seeking a balanced IPA should be pleased.
