Pours very dark brown with a thin light brown head. The nose is licorice, chocolate, dark malt, then some sour and vinegar notes. Taste is dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate, licorice, slightly sour with some booze on the finish. Very unique beer. ruskiimperial (308) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - NOV 14, 2010
Poured a very dark color, with a finger’s worth of very nice tan head. Aroma is heavy on black coffee and black chocolate. The taste is fairly similar to the aroma, though there is a good bit of toffee as well. Body is medium. A good example of the style with quite a bit of character. fcjack1 (273) - Washington, USA - JAN 25, 2014
Bottle from world beers. Pours inky black with a dark tan head. Smells surprisingly boozy considering it’s 7.6%. Also chocolate. Not much alcohol in the taste. Lots of chocolate though and roasted malts. Pretty smooth. I like it. Odyn (268) - New York, USA - MAR 6, 2009
Malty aroma with a little bit of chocolate, with a lovely black color. Sweet flavor with a malty finish. Hints of coffee and anise. Definitely a sipping beer, though a little too sweet and malty for my tastes. mcnealc31 (255) - Elida, Ohio, USA - FEB 21, 2012
Completely black underneath a giant, frothy, khaki head. Smells pretty good, too, with lots of toffee and some bit alcohol notes. Mouthfeel is surprising light and slick, but there are a lot of flavors here to like. Toffee, rum, brown sugar, big alcohol bite, and at 7.6% ABV, that’s not surprising. The hops are kind of funky, and not necessarily in a good way.
I didn’t have big expectations, but this is unique and pretty tasty. Worth giving a toss

While not the best stout, this certainly ranks up there with the better ones. I smelled a hint of cocoa powder, and a dark chocolate bar. Personally, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to enter the world of stouts. bmanLS (134) - Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 13, 2011
Dark pour, thick brown head with lacing that remained on the glass. Thin body, coffee flavor with tin can or metal tones that I didn’t enjoy. I don’t plan to buy Jamaica Stout again. IDunno19 (89) - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 7, 2009
I could’ve sworn I rated this one already but oh well, here goes: Pours a dark rich mahogany with a tan head. Nose full of smoke, chocolate, and caramel. Notes of chocolate, charcoal, toffee, coffee, and caramel flavors on a solid frame. VAAC (86) - Middlebury, Indiana, USA - NOV 28, 2010
Dark black color, smells of coffee and dark chocolate. Also tastes like coffee. Very thick. Nothing overly special, gets this score because I just like this style. Berserkir (56) - New York, USA - FEB 2, 2010
12 oz bottle. Drank Feb 09. Pours dark black, tan head. Aroma is some roast malt. Flavor is darkly roasted malts, very creamy, slightly metallic.
