Dark for the style - with a nice head
Red berries and some malty caramel

Nice looking beer with a creamy thin head; ’flat-white’ style. Attractive herbal green hop flavour, very restrained and well backed with classy (but mild) caramel malts. Perhaps a touch dilutive but seems well made. Marketed as a red ale which I guess is there or thereabouts. bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 13, 2008
Tried on tap at JS Brewhouse Sydney. Passionfruit on the nose and in the taste followed with some lovely malr complexity. Good balance of hops and malt. Couldn’t really see why it was a "red" ale though. MBison (548) - Southern Highlands, AUSTRALIA - MAR 4, 2008
UPDATED: APR 6, 2008 Draught at the brewhouse (pint). Arrived a burnt red copper with a small, creamy, white head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of crystal malts, tart blackberries, cranberries and sweet toffee. Flavor was a moderate bitterness with tart blackberries, caramel, sweet malts (crystal), light toffee and a light metallic finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation, a watery texture, dry mouthfeel and an ok finish. destroye7 (312) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 18, 2007
On Tap at the BREWHOUSE in Melbourne. Clear amber color. No head, low carbonation. Citrus taste and a bit bitter. Overall nice

Tasting tray at brewpub . Slightly hazy apricot golden colour. Thick dense creamy head. Citrus & gooseberry aroma. Nice full flavours, well constructed. My favourite of those on show. Dredd (938) - Bentleigh, AUSTRALIA - JAN 26, 2007
Thoroughly enjoyable beer. Great aroma of Sauvin hops, reddish appearance with a thin head.
Malt flavours lean to a slight sweetness and some pleasant bitterness follows through with a hint of sourness perhaps? mustang3 (254) - Whitby, CANADA - AUG 8, 2005
On tap @ Melbourne location. Good hoppy ale. Copper sort of orange red colour with a thin white head. Floral/citrusy hop aroma. The taste is pleasantly bitter with a decent malt backbone. Not bad. Sully (1380) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - SEP 7, 2004
If you walked in off the street and had one of these your opinion would be that this is a good beer with all the necessary qulalities that could compel you to have a session with it. If, however, this was a beer you had tried, after a Golden Ale or a Charlotte’s Gift, then the ratings would go down. Why? simply becasue it is hard to discern it from these other beers. There is a darker appearance but everything else from the floral hop aroma to the bitterness in the mouthfeel are pretty much the same. So therefore the rating has to be somewhat similar. A good beer but there seems to be a real problem with variety. vanvenlo (1881) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - JUN 27, 2004
19 April 2004 - Low head retention, nice lacing, slight haziness, needs to be a little more red. Subtle malt aroma. Nice starting malt but lacks complexity.
