COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
James Squire Porter is a beer of finesse. Its relationship to stout is evident in a rich, deep colour that is less opaque and unveils window panes of ruby mahogany.Unlike stout, it has more delicate complexity. Roasted barley andwheat, subtle hoppings and long maturation create hints of bitter malt chocolate and pillowy head.

Hello Mr Porter, I’m starting to think most dark porters are all the same and this doesn’t change my mind. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark, semi clear, with generous frothy head. Burnt chocolate aroma, smoky malts. Sweet malt taste too, slight bitterness as well. Not too heavy. Drinkable.

A reasonable Porter, but too sweet for my taste buds, yet a good alternative to the ever-the-same ales.

Dark body white head. Slight roast and malty elements but, despite the proclaimation on the label, it lacks flavour or complexity. The Katoomba Porter i had earlier in the day was much better.

Tap at the Crafty Squire, Russell St Melbourne. Poured a clear reddish brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is caramel malt, creamy toffee. The flavour is moderate sweet light liquorice bitter with a smooth light dry roasty malt dry ashtray palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Appearance: Black like Coke with a decent amount of head that fades a little to barely a thin ring. Pretty much like most porters. Smell: Strong brown sugar, almost burnt a little bit with some caramel. Quite delightful. Taste: At first, it tasted a little like weak coffee but as it warmed, it became a little more flavorful with some chocolate and roasted notes. It’s still nothing complex but it’s still fairly good. Mouthfeel: Higher than expected carbonation with a smooth feel. Good enough body for the style.

345 ml bottle at the lobby bar in Ayres Rock (Desert Sails Hotel). Pours black with small tan head. Mild aroma of toasted malt. Overall flavour was toasted malt and chocolate. Ok, not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at The Charming Squire, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Aroma brings out soy sauce and light toasted malt. Flavour is similar, with dry toasted malt and light soy sauce notes. Boring but clean, despite the soy sauce.

Probada tirada en The Charming Squire, Brisbane. Buena porter. Recomendable, que no es poco en Australia. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Along with Yves at his home black colored body with an off white head and a roasted malt aroma with a sweet fruity malt hop bitter taste and a bitter finish
