This is not a baltic porter per se. Almost opaque black, creamy coffee head. Roasted, tobacco nose. Chocolaty, roasted with long roasted aftertaste. Well-balanced, enjoyable (imperial) stout.
Bottle. It pours a dark reddish brown body and a small, dense, beige head. The aroma is surprisingly weak, with some prunes, roasted malt notes and coffee. It’s dry on the palate, nicely carbonated, and medium bodied. Some roasted notes in the flavor, with dried fruits and a little hoppy bitterness. Lasting finish with some roasted malts and a nice bitterness. Gets a bit more interesting after a few sips, but overall it’s pretty boring. 140117 Benzai (16924) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 29, 2013

500ml bottle via djoeye, shared with Finn. Solid beige, bubbly head. Deep mahogany coloured body. Rather subdued aroma of dark fruits and earthy malts. Sweet malty flavours, ash, earth and caramel. Roasted endnotes. Velvety mouthfeel. True to the style, more or less (Tromsø 05.03.2014).
