Nice colour, well balanced hop aroma and bitterness Cool_Bond (2649) - KUNG_AV_OL @ Instagram, SWEDEN - DEC 26, 2012
Forgive me if I give this good reviews, but damn I love Jämtland brewery beers. Which beers they do. Anyway this beer smells great and tastes loads of goodies. The aftertaste was a little weak but okay. Drinking this beer is enjoying life. It feels like time stands still. But still no top rating due to weak aftertaste. Fantastic beer that deserve much more attention. It’s sad it had a quite mediocre bottle design that scares people away. But don’t judge it from that. Ehrniz (1) - SWEDEN - JUN 19, 2012 does not count
Mycket god! God smak och en behaglig ton av alkohol! Oerhört god! Ja! Rekommenderas verkligen! Ch1mpy (15) - Ystad, SWEDEN - DEC 4, 2004
Jämtlands remains one of the best breweries in Sweden and this remains one of their finest. Unfortunately most pubs, even in Jämtland (the region of origin) itself seem to no longer have it on tap and only on bottle. This beer has lots of taste of hops and the colour is none other than bärnsten (amber).

Besides the slightly burnt malt character, all you can taste is the hops. Citrusy piney hops. Very hoppy. Bittersweet. Doesn’t really taste like a Pilsener, more like an IPA or bitter or something. Very tasty anyway, bitter hoppy finish, i love it, Jamtlands is one of my favourite brewers. Thanks Per!!! larsniclas (7040) - Billdal, SWEDEN - AUG 2, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2004 Draught at The Ardbeg Room, Sockholm, Sweden.
Fruity flavour with some butter-toffee.
A lot of different flavours, mostly citrus and herbs. madsberg (11762) - Søborg, DENMARK - JAN 4, 2003
Amber coloured. Offwhite lasting head. Has a malt chocolate aroma. The flavour is hoppy as hell. Dominates all other flavours but still its very pleasant. Is very bitter in the aftertaste in a good way. Definately a very good pilsener. Outranks most scandinavian pilseners i’ve tasted. ante (3373) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 7, 2003
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2006 Amber coloured. Very hoppy and citric aroma, hints of wheat. Taste is brutal and hoppy, citrus, ryebread and grapefruit. Long bitter finish with some bready notes together with wheat and ginger. bark (255) - Linköping, SWEDEN - OCT 2, 2004
The foam is thin and white. The colour is clear amber (“bärnsten” is amber in Swedish).
The smell is full of malt, Challenger hops and a bit sourish.
The carbonation is balanced, long lasting and just right for this kind of beer.
The taste includes the characteristic Jämtlands Bryggeri-elements: A fine dry bitterness, lots of balanced malts and lots of Challenger and maybe some Bramling hops. The aftertaste is bitter and well bodied.
Solid, as expected from these fine brewers!
