Very dark colour, nearly black; dark greige-brown head, fast dissipating. Very (dark)bready, chocolate & varnish nose. Bread aroma gets more burnt - Maillard? Dry, bitterish taste. Grainy flavours like specific dark grains, roaste barley or oats; slight acidic finish included. Bit smoked too. Mouthfeel bit thinnish, unlike all the grainy flavours would suggest. Good dark bottom-fermenting beer. 'Starkol' is Scandinavian perception. Big thanks to Bjorn & Anders for the Jämtlands choice. Skinnyviking (9571) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 28, 2007
Draught. Small and quickly disappearing off-white head. Clear dark red brown body. Caramel coffee aroma. Coffee hops flavor in a very good balance. Low carbonation. Long burned malt aftertaste. gyllenbock (9184) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 1, 2012

Dark brown, almost black with a medium brownish head. Aroma and taste of roasted malt, coffee and something sweet. Rather bitter and with a long aftertaste.
