The partnership between the son of NFL Hall of Famer, Walter Payton, and Bob and Patrick Jensen, the father/son ownership duo of Argus Brewery, formed quickly after Payton met the Jensens at a beer tasting event. Together, Payton and the Jensens have developed a flavorful, drinkable ale that will please ALL craft beer drinkers. This beer is an American wheat beer that is straw in color, moderately bitter with full aroma and the flavor of wheat. The hop varieties used give a subtle, fruity character that compliment the wheat. The ABV is 5%. A portion of all Jarrett Paytons All-American Wheat Ale sales will be donated to the Jarrett Payton Foundation.

Single bottle from Binnys. Pours a big bubbly head in a narrow 312 glass. Slightly spicy American Wheat smell. Taste has a bit of umami to it, later on I get a note of ale fruitiness. Mostly European hops, I think, with a finish of American cones. Small amount of sediment on the bottom gives the last inch or two in the glass a lot of floaties and a slight yeasty character. I find it pleasant.

I got a 6-pack of this on clearance for a decent price. Had to pour very slowly...as it is highly carbonated and very bubbly with a fizzy feel. Has a light gold appearance with a quickly fading huge white head. Grainy and grassy flavors like a pilsner. A standard forgettable wheat.

Very light and hints of wheat, but not a whole lot of flavor but good drinking on the porch.

12 oz. bottle poured to a pokal glass at Barones of Glen Ellyn, IL., showing a murky, dirty gold hue, with highly frothy & fizzy, cream colored head foam that made it impossible to properly fill the glass without overflowing each time, and foamy cling to the lacing. The nose was grain/wheat, and yeast, with light esters as a combination of peach & lemon, and some tartness. Light bodied, with overly fizzy carbonation, the taste continued some fruit & tartness, added a touch of sweetness, citrusy & earthy bitterness that was a little too amped for the light style, combined with a dry finish. Washed down the pizza okay, but didnt feel highly motivated to finish.

Bottle shared by Darlo, after he found it in the parking lot...

Pours hazy with a decent head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is very mild but has some light fruitiness and some bread yeast. Its a generally neutral aroma, nothing exciting but absolutely nothing offensive in any way.

The beer has a light bitterness and some sweetness. Its yeasty with a mild fruit character. Balanced and easy drinking again, offensive in no way, as well as being exciting in no way.

Thanks for finding this in the parking lot Darlo!

Im glad I picked up only a single bottle at the grocery store. Not that this beer is repulsive in any way. Theres just not much to it. It looks fine, a hazy yellow body with a slender creamy head and provides thin legs of slippery lace. The aroma is almost water, simply a small whiff of sweetened bread dough. Have i mentioned that this is watery, yet? If not, its watery. The flavor is VERY light, some dough, some sugar, a touch of zesty bitterness (quite mild) near the watery finish. No mas!

Pour thanks to nielsenratings. Aroma is artificially orange, like tang even. Flavor is like orange and stewed vegetables. Weird, but not super shitty.

Bottle offered @ gmellison. Got this bad boy in a trade. Thanks Adam. A bit hazy golden orange appearance with a white head. Orange juice / tang, citrusy aroma. Slightly acidic. Flavor is full of orange juice with some herbal notes. A bit bready. Quick aftertaste. Pretty drinkable.

Poured a light cloudy orangish color from the battle with light wheat, clove and water. Flavors are the same with a slight offensive flavor that made this a pretty bad wheat beer.

Pale Clear Yellow Color, Huge Bubbly Foam Head, Lots Of Lacing. Not Much Of an Aroma, very faint fruity notes with clove. Tastes sweet, wheat, clove and light peppery hop bitter. Mellow, easy drinker. Somewhat reminds me of a Belgian Ale. Nothing Fancy but up my alley, style wise. OK. Yet another Local Brewer that is not too far and I wish to find time to go visit. Most important thing that I took away from this beer - Jarrett Payton is a Social Butterfly...If I am somewhat on the opposite side of the scale, what does it make me?

So, Walter Paytons son has a beer named after him... okey dokey: bottle from ABC on Apalachee. Light gold pour with white head. Aroma is caramel, wheat. Tastes are really sweet grain, grass, dough, lemon. Lots of carbonation. Meh.
