Bottle pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, mild cherry. Flavor is good but not that exciting, roast, some sweetness, touch of tartness, dark fruits, mild cherry, A little thin on the feel surprisingly. Pretty good, but expected a little better. Bottle at Liberty Station. Pours very dark brown with a thin, fizzy beige head. Tastes like fermenting cherries, boozy, woody, light cherry sweetness. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like fermenting cherries, alcohol, woody, with a light cherry juice sweetness. slowrunner77 (12147) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
the bareling brings this stout up to around 10% abv. Super smooth. Equal parts chocolate, vanilla, cherry and rye whiskey. So stinking smooth. I really enjoyed the base when this came out and really love it barreled. I think the rye as opposed to straight bourbon was a good call, and can’t wait to have the barreled and unbarreled bottles side by side. Soon :)" daleharshman (1065) - Escondido, California, USA - AUG 8, 2014
500 ml corked and caged bottle purchased a full two years at the brewery in Escondido ($18.00). Pours near pitch black with some brown around the edges and only a very thin layer of beige foam. Opened without any pop which is worrisome. Infected AROMA of tart dark malts, heavy booze, and some chocolate and cherries in there somewhere. FLAVOR is tart and boozy...indeed, this is infected. Also has notes of tangy dark chocolate and some kriek-style sour cherry. Finishes quite boozy. Not horribly infected, but this is certainly not good, especially since I quite liked the original. Not pleasant and very disappointing after waiting two years and paying $18. (12, 891)

At the brewery.
Pours a nice dark brown with cherry hues along the edges. A bit of mocha foam here and there. Smells like cherries, sweet cherries, booze, vanilla, lots of cocoa and some bread. Flavor initially too boozey, as it warms the flavor is a bit better with the cherry really making a massive impact. Lots of cherries. Some sweet malts and some vanilla. The body is full but the Carb was a bit hi for the beer, once this was killed it got better. Nice beer. Good for a group of 4-6.

From corked bottle @ Borefts 2013 afterparty. Almost black. Mon Chérie and whisky notes in the aroma. Confit cherries. Thinnish, alcoholic flavor, with roast, chocolate, and confit cherries. Some raw alcohol. gEUS (1637) - Linden, BELGIUM - OCT 1, 2013
375 ml bottle - shared at the BBF13 after party. pours intense black with a nice medium beige head. Aroma is intensely chocolaty, some sour notes as well (more blackcurrant than cherries). Palate is a bit watery compared to the intensity of the nose, but overall an excellent beer. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Thanks to Dr. Bill for sharing. This black pour has a nice combination of cherry and chocolate flavors. beerisgoodforu (992) - Nørresundby, DENMARK - NOV 12, 2012
Bottle. Pours a black color with some reddish notes and a tan head. Aroma is of lighter cherry notes, oak, vanilla, spicy rye notes, whiskey, chocolate, roasted malt, dark caramel and some light alcohol. The flavor follows the nose more subtle notes of cherry, oak, vanilla, whiskey, chocolate, roasted malt, light alcohol, dark caramel and some of those rye like spicy notes. The body is on the lighter side of full with a creamy mouth feel. Overall a good BA Imperial Stout.
