Bottled 50cl. Some buttery components in the nose. Fudge and dark malts throughout. Remarkably smooth. Balanced. Nice.
Halfway between a stout and an Irish red ale. Chocolate on the nose. Toastiness and a full mouthfeel with a nice, hoppy punch and some acidity in the aftertaste. john44 (3101) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 30, 2017
Bottle. Dark Brown in colour, Reddish against light. Very heavily malted; roast (burnt) malts, lots of caramel, coffee, nuts, hint of chocolate. Fruity; raisins, dried fruits. Hoppy; grassy hops. Roast malty throughout; sweet initially leading to a bitter finish. Decent. (2010-04)

Not particularly exciting, tastes quite like porter. Wholemeal aroma, taste is similar with coffee and chocolate. Would struggle to pick it out of a lineup but is nice enough. prawlie (1593) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 28, 2016
Bottle. Malty, light roast aroma. Clean malt backbone with a hint of licorice. Satisfying light bitter finish. Decent if slightly basic ale. puredelusion (404) - Lviv, UKRAINE - DEC 23, 2016

50cl bottle. Dark brown but I can see through. Medium head. The aroma is medium intensive with notes toasted bread, burned caramel, even toffee and some little chocolate. Not bad. Taste is flavorful, with good body for this style (Bitter). I kinda enjoyed it. Good pint. stevoj (5049) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 4, 2016
Bottle from Kris Wines. A bit tangy, but for an old ale, not out of place. Initial sweet aroma, recalls a cola. Taste puts it more into context, sweet, but with a nice malt profile behind it. Seems light, sweetness lingers. Hoping for a bit more bitterness or substance, like Theakston. Not so, just sweet, without the oomph. Grumbo (2951) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - NOV 23, 2016
Rating from bottle collection/historic notes. Bottle from a local supermarket. Poured dark ruby brown with an average sized off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, treacle, and dark fruits. Medium plus sweetness and mellow roasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation. rstk (18) - - NOV 11, 2016
Flavours of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, some spices. Pours dark ruby with big white creamy head. Full-bodied, pleasant warming taste, hoppy at the beginning, earthy, bitter, sweetish. Delightful old ale for cold November evenings. Enjoyed it. tiong (7305) - Espoo, FINLAND - OCT 23, 2016
500ml bottle @ YHA London Central. Sweetish and malty ale with hints of licorice, nuts and syrup. Decent.
