Buddha’s Brew is a 4.7% alcohol by volume sour wheat ale fermented entirely in oak barrels and blended with Buddha’s Brew Kombucha. We racked unfermented wort directly into oak barrels and inoculated it with souring bacteria. From there, it spent nine months aging in our barrel room before being blended with live Kombucha from Buddha’s Brew at bottling. Like all our beer, it’s unfiltered, unpasteurized & naturally carbonated through re-fermentation in the bottle.

Tap @ Borefts 2012. The pour’s a slightly hazy light golden color with a small eggshell white head. The nose is strong funky lactic acid, some lemon pith and refined sugar sweetness. The taste is herbal funk, bell pepper and more meaty lemon. Light body, very drinkable. Overall, the herbal notes add an interesting spin to this light sour. Nice.

Draft @ Borefts 2012. The beer of the festival for me. Hazy milky yellow big fluffy collapsing head. The nose is damn creamy lactic, lemons, funky, brett goodness. Taste is hugely lactic, brett, lemon sour with what I assume is Kombucha, living brett, bacterial goodness, soft and nice like a jellyfish, light mineral side going on here. tad spices and yeast curling up like scared snail. Crazy drinkable - should be served in jugs.

Pours a very pale yellow color with a white head. Straw and grass notes with a nice tartness of lemon. A touch of sweetness and a very mild bacterial funk. The flavor is light and crisp with a sharp tart lemon character that is quite nice. Good grass notes, a light fruit character, and a hint of pale malt.

On tap at Borefts 2012, Bodegraven. Pours faintly hazy, pale yellow with a light, white cream head. Crisp lemon nose. Light sweet flavor, lively tartness, plenty of citric lemon, faint hay. Light bodied with fine, crisp carbonation. Fairly sharp on the finish, light acidity, tart lemons. Great balance to this one. Very refreshing. One of the best sour beers of the festival.

Draft @ bbf. Aroma is molasses, roasty malts, liquorice, gruit, smoke and other spices. Flavour is slight sour with smoke ,liquorice, roast. A bit weird but nice.

Draught at Borefts Bier Festival 2012. Hazy golden coloured with a small white head. Fruity aroma of citrus peel with notes of barnyard and brett. Fruity flavour of citrus peel with notes of barnyard and brett. Tart finish.

PotjeBier (3941) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 30, 2012
Draught @ Borefts ’12. Pale golden color, hazy. White head. Aroma’s: sour, a bit funky (brett?), wheat, herbal (tea-like, I’m assuming it was the kombucha). Flavor: sour, slightly buttery. Light bodied. Dry finish, no new aftertaste. Mmm, not really.

Huubs (142) - NETHERLANDS - SEP 29, 2012
[email protected] Wazig zeer licht geel van kleur met een dunne witte schuimkraag. Smaak is zuur, citroen/limoen. Heeft wat weg van een sterke NY lemon lime cheesecake, maar met beperkt cake erin. Te zuur voor mij, heeft te veel weg van een Geuze. Aldus Huubs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sampled at borefts. Sour aroma. Thin white head. Hazy blond pour. Too sour for me.

meerbier (1474) - Pijnacker, NETHERLANDS - SEP 29, 2012
[email protected] Citrus, citric almost very dry cider aroma. Pale yellow, white-ist, white head, good lace. Citric, very special flavours. Thin as this can get. Very nice drink. Is it a beer?
