COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Buddha’s Brew is a 4.7% alcohol by volume sour wheat ale fermented entirely in oak barrels and blended with Buddha’s Brew Kombucha. We racked unfermented wort directly into oak barrels and inoculated it with souring bacteria. From there, it spent nine months aging in our barrel room before being blended with live Kombucha from Buddha’s Brew at bottling. Like all our beer, it’s unfiltered, unpasteurized & naturally carbonated through re-fermentation in the bottle.

deyholla (12439) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of Belgian yeast with just a light hint of sour fruit. Flavor also has a light tartness throughout with a bit of kombrucha backed by just a slight yeast note.

On tap at Beer Temple. Dark brown body with thin head. Sour nose. Taste also very sour and tart. Taste quite sharp with some softening through the oak barrels. Okay.

stobbe74 (3790) - DENMARK - NOV 19, 2012
Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2012. Pours a hazy and golden beer with a white head. The aroma is malt, tart, acidic and fruit. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is refreshing and acidic. Overall a good beer.

Tap sample at Beer Temple. Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of lemon tartness, lactic acid, wheat, flowers. Flavour is quite sour, lactic, flowery wheat, lemons, chlorine near the finish, wood, tart finish. Light-bodied, thin, but quite refreshing. OK stuff.

CasK .. . deep hazy gold .. medium foam, light lacing .. . enjoyable tartness level- hay and wheat too .. not getting any kombucha, i think .. . tasty, but nothing i’d seek out again .. . . I like your honesty. You’re hired. And you two haven’t said a word. I like that - you’re hired.

Borefts Beer Festival IV. Day 2. Light haze on this gold beer, small white head. Light crisp palate, dry. Smoothly sour beer. Lactose and a trace of lemon. Subtle floral tones. Fairly neutral finish.

pours blonde, smells like honey, taste like honey but this sour-kind of aftertaste to it .

Pale yellow colour, white head. Quite sour aroma, rubarb, milk, buttermilk, lemon and wild yeast. Quite sour flavour, fresh tart, quite fruity. Lots of lactic acid. Light mineral touch. Fresh sour finish.

Quite lovely, very refreshing.

Tasted at Funk N Sour Festival at Jester King Craft Brewery. A lot of these sour beers smell a lot worse than they taste. This one was true to aromatic form with a smell reminiscent of cat pee. The taste was very interesting with a strong fruitiness but the sour is just not to my liking.

rougeau13 (3227) - Richmond, Texas, USA - OCT 20, 2012
Cask at Flying Saucer. Cloudy yellow with no head. Very funky aroma of citrus, grain and sour fruit. Taste is sour and funky and very mildly oaky; very Berliner Weisse. Light-medium bodied and slightly dry; easy drinking. Nice.
