3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance - pours dark dark brown. Finger size head.
Aroma - funky. Like you would expect from a farmhouse.
Mouth - light. Higher carb than most I have drank lately.
Taste - funky like a yeasty biscuit or cracker. Very very mild. Not much punch on any flavors but nice in a way. Dry malt finish but malts are subtle. Slightly toasted. Toasted wheat bread finish but smooth and mild.
Overall - not bad. Not complex at all but enjoyable in its simplicity.
Pours a medium brown color. Aromas of chocolate, brown sugar, and coffee. Flavor has a nice mellow chocolate taste with a little bittering coffee. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 18, 2015
Poured into a perfect pint. This one isn’t a gusher like the last JK I opened, but it is overcarbed.
2.75 A: Fairly clear deep amber color. Four plus fingers of foamy tan head. Retention is poor and no lacing is left.
2.75 S: Nose on this isn’t really strong, but I guess that’s what I was expecting. However, it also isn’t very interesting. The main focus is a dry woodiness with herbal notes. It’s not bad, just kinda boring.
2.75 T: Taste is also lackluster. I’m not saying this because it is 3.5%, I’m saying that because it can’t hold up with any of the other session beers I’ve had. Again dry woodiness, a few layers of herbalness and not much else. Maybe a touch of toastiness.
3.25 M: Lighter body. Good moderate carbonation despite the appearance. Lightly creamy and smooth.
3.0 D: It’s okay, but it’s boring, even for a session beer.

Odd caramel brown color with a yellow head. Looks a bit like dirty urine. Some mild sour up front and pleasant very light grassy and citrus notes. Pleasant and very easy drinking but it is one ugly beer. Acknud (1082) - Morganfield, Kentucky, USA - SEP 6, 2014
Pours a dark brown with a soft amber head. Aroma is roasted sour malt. Taste is muted sour, nuts, some cocoa. Goes down smooth with no lingering after taste. lownote (585) - Austin, Alabama, USA - AUG 24, 2014
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2014 Pours from bottle an intense brown/red with lots of head. Smells funky in a good way. Very carbonated and a medium light thickness. Taste is a muted sour. Very earthy taste from the oak actually dominates. Its okay.

Pours dark brown with small fizzy tan head out of bottle. Aroma of caramel, oak, and funk. Flavor of a tart amber lager. Good beer but not impressed coming from jester king.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a super large dirty white head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with some oak notes and funky ester is a weird mix that I wasn’t expecting. Taste is a mix between some tart notes with lightly sweet caramel malt with dry funky yeast notes. Body is light with perfect carbonation. Glad I’ve had the chance to try this beer but not sure it is something I would seek on a regular basis. 750ml bottle pours dark cloudy chestnut brown with 3 finger eggshell head. Nose is soft subtle dark bready malt and light spice. Taste is thin, bready malt, spice, cereal, touches of light roast and cocoa. Finish is subtle roast malt, whole wheat, bread. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 19, 2014
This beer pours a cloudy dark reddish brown. On the nose I get some oak, some floral notes, and yeast. Palate is lots of wood, cedar and oak, not overly balanced, lots of bready notes from the malt. Leighton (22306) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 26, 2014
Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell during the Gunnar Tasting - London. Thanks to Fergus for this one. Pours clearish red-brown with a creamy, beige head. Dusty cocoa on the nose with accents of toasted bread and tangy leather. Light sweet flavor with leathery fruits, faint rubber, dirt, touches of maple. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Lightly tangy on the finish with more old leather predominating. Alright, novel; so THIS is what an oaked farmhouse mild is like - I had always wondered.
