UPDATED: JUN 15, 2014 Bottle 10 months old. Black with a 1 finger mocha head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt with booze. The taste adds licorice, some dark fruits, black coffee up front with a bit of tart bitterness on the finish. The mouthfeel is thick with heavy carbonation for the style and a leathery finish. Bottle purchased at World of Beer in Tioga. Pours pitch black and thick with a massive dark brown head into my tulip glass. Aromas of roasty dark malts, some chocolate, light hops, but an interesting light grass introduced to the smell that I assume is the farmhouse yeast influence. I must say, though, that this influence is extremely subdued. Flavor follows the smell nearly perfectly with sweet chocolate balanced by slightly bitter roast flavor and a hint of anise. The farmhouse claim doesn’t come through to much in he flavor but maybe makes things more drinkable. Mouthfeel is thick and rich but not overbearing with plenty if carbonation to make this full bodied and silky on the tongue. A really nice beer to be honest. Bottle 75 cl from Systembolaget. Black with a dark brown very foamy head. Chocolate, fruity tart, dark fruit, roasty, berries. Slight sweetness, some bitterness, the roasty qualities mix very well with the fruity character. Full/medium body, low carbonation, slightly sweet fruity finish. Very nice and well balanced taste. Rich coffee and chocolate aroma with a somewhat roasted acidity. Pitch black with big beige head. A bit acidic taste, very roasted taste a bit of bitterness but overshadowed by the roastiness, some alcoholic warmth. Medium body, average carbonation. 750 ml bottle, Batch #15, bottled August 26, 2013. Served in a Great Lakes Brewing chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with an inch and a half brown head. Head retention is good, and there’s a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, coffee, milk and bittersweet chocolate, and some sweet and tart dark fruit. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some burnt malt/grain, licorice, and a bit of peppery spice and earthiness. I like the mix of roastiness, sweetness and tartness in this brew. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s slick and coating with a good amount of soft carbonation. I thought this was a good brew, I’d like to pick up a bottle the next time I come across some. $13.99 a bottle.

Pours black and smells of rich chocolate and dark roasty malt. Slightest bit of tartness, but not like funk metal. Taste is dark cocoa laden chocolate. Too soft of carbonation as it was prepoured into a pitcher and then my glass, but still tasty and much better than funk metal, I thought. Would be even better with spot on carbonation. Big light brown fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is loaded with Co2 stinging in the nose, followed by sour coffee, sour dark fruits, burnt caramel, dark malts, ashtray, sugar. Taste is sour-ish burnt, sour coffee, burnt caramel, ashtray, grass, yeast, hay, licorice, dark fruits, yeast. Medium bitterness, dry harsh watery mouthfeel, high carbonation. Meh!
Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a jet black body with a huge farmhouse-style foamy beige head. Nose is coffee, licorice, red fruits, straw, weird over-carbonated sour-ish tones and hints of dark chocolate. Taste is chocolate, coffee, sour-ish grainy notes, dry straw, hints of chalk, biscuits and ashes. Medium body, high carbonation. Pours black with a dark tanned head. Aroma is slightly acidic with loads of roasted malts, hints of leather. Taste is coffee, roasted malts, leather and tar. Slightly sweet with a semi-dry finish. Totalt svart med ett stort, mörk brunt skum. Doft: Funk, kakao, gräs, kaffe, örter, alkohol, pralin butik, jord. Smak: Örter, gräs, kakao, kaffe, rostat korn, malt, alkohol, humle (ej beska), citrus. Mogen, trevlig bekantskap som nog växer med åldern.
