Big bottle brought to cfobes tasting. Wow, the belgian yeast really sets off the roasty chocolate to make a very interesting mix. Different, but delicious.
Pours a deep black from the bomber with bubbly tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of mild farmhouse funk over big roasted dark malts and a hint of mild fruitiness. Taste is even more of the farmhouse, but still a nice stouted base, with a semi-sweet finish. Solid, but I like the not farmhouse or the newer generations better. Sample from 2013 bottle at the "Black Friday 02" tasting on 11/25/2016. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, yeast and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of chocolate malt, earthy yeast and coffee. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall. (Bottle, batch #15) Pitch black colour with dense, dark brown head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, black rye bread, liquorice, dark chocolate, soy sauce, some orange peel and a touch of smoke (I guess some brimstone was to be expected). Malty, roasted nose with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, soy sauce, liquorice, black rye bread, orange peel, hints of spicy yeast and a balanced coffee bitterness in the finish. The farmhouse yeast makes its impression, but doesn’t take over, Almost full body, with a touch of sweetness. Rich, well balanced and tasty, with lots of liquorice and black coffee. Very nice. Dark brown/black color. Mild aromas, roasted malt, some floral/grass hints. Taste is roasted malt, mild chocolate, some herbal, grass and yeast hints. Bitter, roasted finish.

0.75l bottle from Barley Wine, batch #15. After leaking a good glass or so in my suitcase on the trip back from Copenhagen due to a bad cap, this one pours a jet-black body with a strange dark chocolaty bubbly and kinda foamy head. The aroma has clear oxidized tones, but it’s also really filled with lovely licorice, roasted malts, chocolate and there is some mild faint acidity all the way in the back. Was not expecting it to have much carbonation left, but there is definitively some left in here. The mouthfeel is oily and not as viscous as I had hoped, but all in all nice enough. The flavors are definitely on the extreme oxidized-side and really dominated by roasted chocolate malts and some salty licorice. Tones of alcohol lingering in the light warming dark chocolaty aftertaste. Yeah, clearly affected by the fact that there has been a leakage, but still a really nice one! 01.07.2012

Pours pitch black, with a fluffy brown head.
Roasted, spicy aroma, coffee, earth, chocolate, caramel, light phenols, faint hops.
Off-dry, medium to full bodied, mid bitterness, balanced CO2.

Pitch black coloured body with a tall and very thick dark brown head on top, with excellent retention.
Nice aroma with roasted malts, milky and dark chocolate, light funk.
Great taste, lots of roasted malts, coal, some chocolate, ash, only a hint of funk,well hidden alcohol.
Medium thick body, nicely carbonated, quite dry on the palate.

Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Brown pour with a thin ring of light brown head. Nose is roasty and dark chocolate, light hints of the farmhouse yeast. Flavor is sweet and mild bitters, sort of floral and earthy. Enough dark chocolate and roast to add some robustness to the brew. Black color with brown head. Aroma has tart and roasty notes with a bit of caramel. Taste starts tart with dark fruit notes, roasted malts and a bit of coffee on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Really nice combination of tart flavors and roastiness.
