COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gotlandsdricka, meaning “Drink of the Good Land”, is believed to have been the beer of the Vikings. Our rendition of this ancient style is inspired by the traditional farmhouse ales once brewed on the island of Gotland off the coast of Sweden. Gotlandsdricka (6.6% alcohol by volume) is brewed with birchwood smoked malt, juniper and sweet gale. It’s unfiltered, unpasteurized and naturally carbonated through re-fermentation in the bottle.

At jtclockwork’s. The aroma is smoke, lemon. The appearance is hazy yellow, white head. The flavor is smoky, lemon, pine. The finish is mole, pine, juniper. Interesting.

Welcome to Houston -- Aroma is a strong assertive smoke, hint of hops? Flavor is extremely assertive smoke, juniper, (palette is working every every synapse) ... and I think I lost it. Drank another sip and pretty sure my palatte is more and officially wrecked. Nothing to see here move on ...

Reviewed from notes: smoke on the aroma with just a bit of juniper and citrus. On the palate there is smoke and juniper, not my favorite combination. Weird beer.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy golden color ale with a nice generous white head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light salty rustic malt notes with some spices, juniper and light smoked notes also noticeable. Taste is a unique mix of juniper, smoked notes with some salty rustic malt notes clearly identifiable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Very interesting beers for sure but I am not sure I would feel the need to drink this on a regular basis.

From notes. Poured cloudy, with a golder color and a white head. Smoky nose and aroma with hints of ripe plum, berries, moss, and hints of tobacco. Medium body, dry, with a smokey finish. Unique.

Nice light bodied ale. First of this style I have had. Enjoyed the earthy flavors that were abundant in this one.

Bottle received in trade. Thank you Jeffrey (non-RB)! Pours vibrant hazy yellow with a big frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing on the glass. Smell is floral, earthy and slightly phenolic with crackers, honey, smoked meats, dandelions, hay, moist soil, dry wood, lemon zest, ginger and juniper berries. Taste is tiny malty, tiny herbal, earthy, and slightly phenolic with crackers, smoked meats, hay, lemon zest, unripe pears, dry soil, juniper berries, honey, white bread, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly round, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny malty and slightly phenolic with crackers, white bread, hay, dry soil, lemon zest, juniper berries and smoked meats. Strange yet quite good.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of light malts and wheats, some smokiness, a little bit of herbal notes, light fruitiness, and some light bitterness. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Average texture. A pretty good beer, but very different.

750 ml bottle thanks to errl poured into a jester king chalice. Pours a hazy gold with a big white head of foam. Decent retention. The aroma has notes of musty grass and light smoke. Meaty. The taste has more of that umami heartiness and grassy, herbal bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium body. I keep getting a little bit of a citrus quality in here as well. For my first experience with the style, I think I enjoy it well enough. I’d like to try some more examples of the style, for sure.
