On tap at Borefts Bierfestival, Bodegraven, 2012. Perhaps the best beer I had at the festival. Amazing clear yellow color; large head. Flavors of smoked pork (excellent with bitterballen). I had it at the same time as Evil Twin’s cranberry lambic, and the two offset each other phenomenally. ads135 (4844) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUL 7, 2013
Strange, sweet, and fresh. The juniper defines the beer but there is an understated smokiness to this as well. Excellent and very unique beer. KAggie97 (3529) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Bottle. Holy smoke. THIS IS A DARN GOOD BEER. Pours a lush golden yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is smoked wood, bbq’s peach, and strength. Flavor is smoked malt atop a pyre of campfire ash. Smoke lingers on the tongue. Skal! AcctError160898 (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - NOV 12, 2012
Aroma is smoky! Pours a hazzy golden color with a nice, mostly lasting foamy white head and some lacings. Very attractive in the glass. The taste is, like the nose, smokey with a nice bitter finish and not much aftertaste. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Crisp. Overall, I really liked this beer! It stands out in a crowd of so-so beers because of a really unique taste. Nice work Jester King! shrubber85 (11506) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - SEP 2, 2013
Bottle. Strong juniper and smoked malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet smokey barley malt flavor with a lightly bitter juniper finish. Excellent.

From what I can gather, Gotlandsdricka is a Sahti/Smoked Beer/Gotlandsdricke/Farmhouse Ale-ish type beer. That random-ass description might explain why it tastes totally unlike anything I’ve tried. This ale smells like herbal juniper and acrid smoke. It tastes like a liquidized version of savory birch-smoked meat with spices. Jester King says this "may have been the beer of the Vikings." If that’s the case, I’m going to brush up on my Norse mythology and die a Viking’s death. Then, I can go to Valhalla. I’ll fight, chase Scandinavian maidens, eat in banquet halls, and drink this beer from the teats of Heiorun the goat. Yes, I think it’s safe to say that this beer has changed the entire trajectory of my (after)life. ineedbeer (2205) - Oakland, California, USA - FEB 16, 2016
Poured from a Batch 2, Dec. 2014 750 ml bottle. Aroma has a light, sweet floral and honey note to it with moderate smoke notes. Light grain notes with hints of acid and citrus. Medium light juniper berry notes and a touch of tropical fruit. Pours a hazy, pale yellow gold with a medium sized, moderately thick, white head that steadily recedes. Moderate lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a medium acidity with a nice lemon, citrus note and a touch of pineapple. Some light grain notes with a medium light sweetness with honey and floral notes. Light smoke character with hints of juniper. Light bitterness. Some lingering acidity and pineapple with a touch of smoke and juniper. Light sweetness lingers. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, this is a weird beer and most people probably wouldn?t like it bit for some reason I really enjoy it. The smoke works well with the sweetness and the phenolic notes from the juniper berries. The citrus and acidity from the yeast also really help brighten the beer. I don?t know why, but I love this beer. Patrickctenchi (6664) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - SEP 4, 2013

Smells..juicy stonefruits, very fruity sweet citrus, earthy dull vegetable leaf, dull berry & yeasty funk.
Tastes .. Straight up tarty lemon, dull berry.. earthy & leafy, smoked malts and bright funky wild yeasts.. Complex and amazing. SPDickerman (1239) - Texas, USA - JAN 24, 2013
Pours hazy pale yellow with a large bright white head. Smells a little like wheat and herbals herbal. Taste is herbal and otherwise a little sweet and bitter. Medium-bodied with a slick texture and mildly fizzy mouth-carbonation, Jester King Gotlandsdricka finishes with an herbal tingle.
