Bottle 750ml @ Geokkjer
Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, molasses, caramel, brown sugar and coffee. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long chocolate and coffee finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle thanks to my secret Santa. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has roasted malts with dark coffee notes and a decent amount of peppers. Flavor has a much more creamy chocolate start that grows in bitterness from the coffee and has just a hint of pepper in the finish.

Pours a deep black color with a tan head that bubbles and then settles to just a ring. Sweet chocolatey aroma and taste (very characteristic to Mikkeler stouts) followed by sweet espresso flavors and some light spice/hop character.

LoFi (1718) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 22, 2013
Bottle. Pitch black with a small, porous dark brown head. Aroma: roasted, creamy, a touch of chili. Taste: roasted, coffee, cocoa, dried fruits, chili, creamy, light salmiak. This is like a good warm chocolate with chili and whipped cream (well, not warm but you get the idea). The finish is hot from the chili. Quite full-bodied. Very nice, balanced but with a little bite in the finish.

Pours a robust looking viscous black with almost zero head. Aromas of coffee, heavy roast, some slight spice. Taste confirms the smell - roasted coffee, semisweet chocolate, and just a touch of pepper on the finish. Really damn good.

Bitter Kopi coffee makes the experience enjoyable, bringing depth to the flavor profile. Rest of the drink is entirely forgettable. Kopi coffee is the only part of this beer that's worthwhile.

750ml bottle pours a deep black color with a very small light brown head that leaves only brief lacing on the glass. Aroma is light chocolate and coffee with some roasted notes. Taste is chocolate malty sweetness with coffee and roasted grain and coffee bitterness in the finish. There is also a slight warming from the alcohol which is noticeable. Medium to heavy bodied with light carbonation. A pretty good brew and recommended to try at least once.

It was hard getting this to produce any real head, but what little head it did make was a medium-brown color and settled to a very thin film atop the pitch-black beer. It feels viscous and thick in the glass, and the uber-malty aroma coming from it (even from a foot and a half away) backs up my suspicions. Up close, it smells very thick of chocolate and up-front coffee - like I stuck my nose in a bag of ground coffee beans. I can almost feel it in my throat. It’s very soft as it enters the mouth, heavily roasted on the lips (or maybe it’s the coffee), and rolls down the throat in a very silky way as well. The heavy coffee and roasted malts really make my throat contract, but not that much bitterness presents itself in the flavor. Some reviewers complain that this is thin, but I don’t think it is. The heavy, intense flavors of the beer might just make the flavor actually seem heavier than its gravity. And yes, it’s not very lively because the carbonation is low. But I think that the flatness of the beer contributes to your ability to experience more of the complex flavors without the extra air interrupting things. Overall, it’s a heavily roasted, coffee-forward beer that’s heavy on the palate, just sweet enough to counterbalance the heavy malts, and feels like someone is pouring fresh coffee grounds straight down your throat.

Black. No head, no lacing. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Taste of big chocolate and coffee. Some vanilla. Acrid in the back. Dry, sweet, and a bit of pepper sneaks up on you in the end.
