COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Farmhouse Ale Brewed with Tangerines & Clementines – Dry, well-attenuated, farmhouse ale brewed with the zest and juice of tangerines and clementines.

We are pleased to introduce Jester King Provenance — a series of three farmhouse ales brewed with different combinations of winter citrus fruit. The first of the three batches was brewed with the zest and juice of grapefruits and oranges. The second batch incorporated the zest and juice of lemons and limes, and the third batch used the zest and juice of tangerines and clementines.

All three variations are dry, highly-attenuated, authentic farmhouse ales, brewed with Hill Country well water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, and fermented with a unique blend of brewer’s yeast, native wild yeast, and native souring bacteria. Their flavors are yeast and souring bacteria driven with the fruits serving as integral components of the fermentation. We don’t add fruit (or fruit flavorings or concentrates for that matter) to filtered and pasteurized beer at packaging time to make what amounts to a beer cooler. Rather, we incorporate the fruit into the fermentation, so that wild yeast and souring bacteria can transform the fruit flavors into something that’s greater than the sum of the parts. For instance, think about the difference between grape juice and wine. Why are the two so different from one another? It’s because the grape juice has been fermented by living microorganisms. We apply the same principle to the use of fruit in our beer.

bottle at hop scholar. This one is a little too light, goes to seltzer. Some tangerine aroma but it is very light in the flavor I can barely taste it.

Bottle. Golden pour with white head. Fruity clementine, and tangerines, light tart aromas. Flavors are fruit forward, tart, clentines and tangerine.

75CL, Batch 3 from May 2014. Due to the trip down, it’s a cloudy citrus orange color, decent head that fades fast. This smells really really good! Like orange juice zest, tangerines, clementine, honey, melons...wow. This tastes equally as good. Lemon,Lime are prominent, lots of wheat, even in the body as well. watermelon, honey dew melon, persimmon and even some oranges. it’s all around a fruit bomb. really really great.

750 ml bottle, thanks to AdamChandler! Batch 3 dated May 27, 2014! Color is a hazy gold, still plenty of carbonation, but not bad even after a nearly two hour drive in a car. Aroma still shows a mild citrus that is for sure a clementine, mild Brett and old peaches.

I really like how the fruit and Bactria married with each other. Good level of tartness with sour being low. The citrus note is still noticed in the main backbone. Peach, mild tangerine and yeast. Pleasing lingering tartness. Carbonation is effervescent. Body is light and refreshing. Damn, this is nice!

Batch #3 - may 27, 2014).

750ml bottle, shared by alexsdad06. Batch 3. Nice bit of citrus here, but less than in the Grapefruit version I tried prior. It’s got more just plain saison character here, but some good funk too. Hazy golden orange color. Thin white head. Leaves good bits of lace. Medium body, more full feel. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Nice light sour taste, light bitter, very light sweet, more dry. Tasty. Liked this whole series.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate sour citrus and sweet fruit aroma. Medium body with a tingly texture and soft carbonation. Medium sour & sweet citrus flavor with a medium to heavy sweet citrus & sour finish of moderate duration. This is another good beer

750 ml bottle from Errl shared with Tmoney99. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have a nice tart fruitiness that is better than the other two, pale malts, funk, grass, my favorite of the 3.
