Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

650mL bottle, pours a clear pale golden with a tiny white head. Aroma brings out medium apple sweetness, with a little farmhouse funk, and some light tannins. Flavour is quite sweet for a scrumpy, with very little farmhouse character, with medium sweet apples. Drinks easy like juice. Not very scrumpy-like to me, but it’s very nice for what it is.

Cloudy, light tan. No head, of course. Apple juice aroma with just light tannins. Very sweet, though, on the palate. The tannins aren’t enough to cover the overt sweet nature of this. The apple character is fresh, but it’s too much like juice for me, and not enough like a nice, alcoholic scrumpy.

651 ml. bottle. Pours a minimal head, over a cloudy dark yellow (SRM 4) body......nose is apple, mild acid.....taste is moderately honey sweet, with apple, hints of cinnamon spice, mild tart acid which cleans the finish......mouth feel, light almost watery body, no alcohol, light carbonation, with mild acid. This is a moderately more complex cider than many on the market which taste like fermented Red Delicious apples. This seems to have some Granny Smith in it. BJCP 7/3/14/4/6

Bomber. Cloudy copper color with small mushy floaters. Aroma of fresh apples, spice, slight funk. Flavor is semi-sweet. Tart apples, light spice, minor earthy funk. Just the right amount of sweetness and funk to keep it interesting yet drinkable.

Intricate08 (52) - Dallas, Texas, USA - AUG 1, 2016
Aroma is mostly apple, hints of spice. Pours golden dark-ish. Hints of cinnamon, spice, but mostly fresh apples. Very juicy taste, very fresh. On the sweeter side of things. Overall a very nice cider without too many bells and whistles-- just a good, solid apple taste.
