COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

From a bottle this poured clear straw yellow with no head. Nose is just apple, and body is smooth and clean. Flavor is of apple with a tiny bit of spice. No way you can tell this contains alcohol. Actually quite drinkable.

Bottle...light straw in color, no head...it smells astringent, along with apples...some one put chemicals in my organic cider!!!....the flavor is sweet apple. and the same astringent/chemical taste but lighter....light syrupy characteristic to the body...very reminiscent of ice wine or ice cider actually...its better straight out of the bottle rather than glass..the finish is cinnamon

12-oz. Thanks, BVC! Medium hazy light golden with plenty of steadily rising carb. Light platinum blonde sudsy head. Big sweet green apple nose. Creamy medium body. Lots of sweet green apple on the mid-palate. Long, sweet mildly tart finish.

2008-10-13. Hazy golden yellow. (2+) Must aroma of barn or basement, sweet apples, very light note metallic note that may actually be coming from the rim of my glass, I can’t be sure. (6+) Sweet flavour feels a bit artificial at times, lightly tart apple undertones, fruit and spice notes. Smooth average palate. Nice but simplistic. Bottle from Brown Jug, Anchorage

From a bottle. Incredibly pale pour, no head, very clear. Very sweet in both flavor and aroma, with some clean, cheap apple. No complexity or yeast to speak of... just cheap, filtered and fermented apple juice. The worst cider I’ve had by far.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2012 Very rich and sweet cider. Full bodied and lush. Immediate and fresh apple flavors fill the mouth. Slightly tarter finish. And definite notes of alcohol, like any well-made cider. Very good. Goes superbly with sweet & spicy roast pork and vegetables on egg noodles. Tried again tonight, knowing how much I liked it the first time. This is one of the most delicious beverages I have ever consumed; almost up there with the legendary Rodenbach Grand Cru. A simply delicious beverage. Sweet in the finish, but not too sweet. If Plato had a form in mind for the very essence of the apple, it would be this fine cider. Perfect.

Bottle. Hazy gold with floaties mixed throughout. Only random surface bubbles and no real head to speak of. Aroma is sweet, ripened apples, some sugary notes followed by light tart apple and apple skins. Taste is very sweet almost like a kids apple juice. Light apple skin flavors and ripe apples. Surprisingly this is very sweet and rather uncarbonated, unlike most ciders. Body is light and rather still. Very sticky sweet. Finishes with a bit of a bite. Some signs that it is at least fermented. More sweet apples, apple skins, light green apples and a bit of sugary sweetness.
