Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

Clear amber pour with a ring of bubbles. Aroma is strong sweet apple and lightly floral. Taste is candy apple and light earth. Very sweet overall. Slick medium palate.

Pours hazy golden with a thin white head. Strong aroma is mostly fresh apple. Flavor is strong and tasty, all fresh apple - were the apples picked yesterday? Hell, it is listed as organic. Mouthfeel has OK body and fizz. Don’t worry, drink Scrumpy!

Bottle, shared at the lake. Hazy medium gold, medium carbonation. Big sweet apple character, a bit musty, but very sweet. Pretty simple really, and too sweet for my preference.

660ml bottle - shared by Elvira - thanks!
Lovely sweet fruity apple aroma, really juicy. Rich orange for a cider, cloudy. Mega sweet palate, actually sugary. But tons of apple too. Pleasantly carbonated, but that can’t save the palate from being stickily sweet. Only a tonne of ice can fix that problem, alas. Pleasant, once you’re past the sugar rush. So sweet it reminds me of non-rateable nordic macro alko-pop ciders. However, even those have remembered to include some sharpness to the mix. In fact there’s no evidence of yeast being involved with this alcoholic apple juice at all. Another notch in the "Americans haven’t got a fucking clue how to make [style X]" post for X=scrumpy. Nice cider, with ice cubes for drinkability, but please don’t pretend it’s something which it isn’t.

Runs as a nice solid golden opaque from being unfiltered - Little fizz - Runs like an English cider but a lot sweeter however it has a Normandy after taste :)

Brought to Super Bowl party. Ours a cloudy golden brownish orange. Slight white foam. Aromas of big sweet juicy apples. Apple cider. Taste is sweet tastes just like apple juice. Very refreshing.

MunBro (942) - St. Albert, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 1, 2015
Aroma of sour yeast and rotten apples. Not a great cider, funky muddled flavour - not fresh.

KyotoLefty (10263) - Kyoto, JAPAN - DEC 12, 2014
Tap at Marciero. Cloudy orange-gold with lace. Warm apple nose, almost baked. Lightly acidic. Rather sweet and fruity but with a good acidic balance. Great.

Lemke10 (981) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 3, 2014
This pours a murky golden yellow color with a slight bit of carbonation. The aroma is that of fermented apple cider. The taste is sweet, easy with hints of cinnamon and caramel. Sweet and juicy but not as BIG and SWEET as other ciders like Angry Orchard. Worth trying if they sell this in your neck of the woods.

luttonm (6271) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 29, 2014
22oz in Seattle. Darker clear orange. Somewhat funky and earthy aroma. Juicy red apple with a lot of sweetness. Some tart apple finish. Nice enough.
