Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

22 oz bottle from the Beer Authority.

Deep golden pour. Strong apple nose with almost a pie spice thing going on, flavor is intensely sweet, red apple, caramel. Entirely drinkable but definitely on the juice side, sweeter than Iíd like. Limited carbonation further contributes to that impression.

Bottle. 11/8/14. Pours translucent straw with a thin, barely-there white head. Aroma is apples galore, sweet, cider. Taste is really nice; apples for days, subtle hint of funk and sour, some caramel and toffee, hint of spice, touch of syrup; otherwise, apples all day, every day. Mouth feel is oily, medium-full and rich. Medium-low carbonation. Light lacing. No discernible alcohol. Really quite tasty.

"Upon opening a sour apple blast hits the nose, but immediately fades to a light twang in the background/ Lightly sweet, dry and solid across the board. Was hoping to challenge the barreled ciders, which it did not, but it was nice. Top 5-10 in style. "

650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange gold with no head. Sweet aroma of apples. Sweet flavour of apples, yeast and a light tartness with a dry, mildly acidic finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and flat carbonation.

On tap at Cohillís. Pours a golden color with no head and fruity flavor. This is a very smooth cider. Ciderís arenít my favorite but this was very good. Maybe a touch too sweet for my taste but very hard to believe this is 6%, there was no trace of alcohol in it, very refreshing.

The best cider on Earth from my sweet home state. Little barn yard mixed with the freshest tasting apple taste ever. If I had one very mild complaint it would be that it could be a tiny tiny tiny bit less sweet.

22oz bomber given to me by my Sargent. Pours a hazy pale straw color with a tiny fizzy white head. Aroma of sweet and tart apples, white grapes, and a hint of vinager. Taste is flat and sweet. Lots of sweet apples, pear juice, white grapes, sugar, and a hint of yeast.

660ml bottle. Hazy golden pour with afew bubbles that give a small white rim. Aroma of fruity apple & apple skins. Sweet juicy apple flavour balanced with alittle dryness. Nice smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, clean finish. Very drinkable.

No noticed bottling information.
Appearance: This looks like unfiltered and unpasteurized apple cider from a cider farm. Some head is noted, but only on the edges.
Aroma: The aroma is purely apples and apple skin. Enticing and sweet, but not cloyingly so.
Taste: Clean and crisp hard cider. Sweet with an apple skin like dryness. Very nice.
Palate: Medium to full-boded, unfiltered texture with a light sparkling quality to it.
Overall: Very drinkable, an adult apple juice. Sparkling and enjoyable, but a bit pricey considering itís near $7 for 22 ounces.

Bottles of various vintages, 2010 and onwards.
Large-bubbled bright gold body sports a moderate, but somewhat fizzy white head that recedes quickly to the edges. I guess Iíll just state right away that the head/carbonation speaks to my biggest complaint with this cider; the lack of carbonation. I think if these guys would not pasteurize this stuff, it would be one of the best there is. As is, itís still a delightfully flavorful, full-bodied yet crisp, drinkable American cider. Very light lactic notes dance on the edges of the palate, with deep, juicy apple flavors and a mild but refreshing tartness.
Itís odd, especially, that they pasteurize this, given that they arenít filtering it. I dont think the carbonation has long enough to develop, and it further inhibits any funky flavors. Anyways, enough harping about that, though I do think it leads to more looseness/wateriness in the mouthfeel and more susceptibility to oxidation. Great stuff, nonetheless, perhaps a touch too sweet.
