COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

Golden yellow color, little carbonation. Initial alcohol and tart bite, gives way to a sticky sweetness. More or less tastes like unbalanced alcoholic apple juice.

651 ml. bottle. Pours a minimal head, over a cloudy dark yellow (SRM 4) body......nose is apple, mild acid.....taste is moderately honey sweet, with apple, hints of cinnamon spice, mild tart acid which cleans the finish......mouth feel, light almost watery body, no alcohol, light carbonation, with mild acid. This is a moderately more complex cider than many on the market which taste like fermented Red Delicious apples. This seems to have some Granny Smith in it. BJCP 7/3/14/4/6

Bomber. Cloudy copper color with small mushy floaters. Aroma of fresh apples, spice, slight funk. Flavor is semi-sweet. Tart apples, light spice, minor earthy funk. Just the right amount of sweetness and funk to keep it interesting yet drinkable.

Aroma is mostly apple, hints of spice. Pours golden dark-ish. Hints of cinnamon, spice, but mostly fresh apples. Very juicy taste, very fresh. On the sweeter side of things. Overall a very nice cider without too many bells and whistles-- just a good, solid apple taste.

Taste is very sweet in a pleasant candy fashion, juicy candy apple, sugar, substantial body. Sweet & candy like but in a pleasant fashion.

Can from Tanakaya shared at a tasting. Not a bad little cider. Big apple nose with some nice yeast character and light funk. Slightly too sweet and heavy but nice funky yeast notes come through on the palate and nose. Not bad, but maybe a tad cloying. Still enjoyable and a good cider to share.

this is a perfect cider. this is the cider on which all other crap ciders are judged. like drinking fresh milled and chilled apple cider, with subtle carbonation and the warming glow of alcohol. truly the best.
