Sampled on draft at the Monroeville PA location this beer poured a black color with a large frothy brown head. The aroma is bitter roasty malts, dry chocolate and coffee. The flavor is bitter roasty malts with strong floral hops and bitter gritty coffee on the finish. Decent but smells better than it tastes. At Framingham, MA, and called Black Widow. Dark black with medium tan head, body was a little thinner than a stout. Medium hops, toasted coffee flavor, very dry. One of the better Harvard's brews I've had. jstu9 (403) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 15, 2001
Above avarege, has some similarities to Guiness, but not really. ........... JFGrind (2074) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 17, 2003
Springfield, PA. Not only drank this at the brewpub, but brought a growler of it home for only $6.95 (JHB is running a special). Beer poured dark brown with small creamy head. Chocolate malt flavor evident, it was a great session beer. JoeMcPhee (10137) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 17, 2006
Tap at the Lake Grove location. Deep brown beer with no head at all. Herbal nad nutty aroma with notes of toast and bitter chocolate and some sweet earthy hops on the top. Flavour is quite earthy and toasty. Fairly thin-bodied but quite tasty nonetheless. With the body bumped up some it would be much better, but as it stands it’s only okay.
