On tap at the Wayne location. The beer menu had this listed as their ’Organic Coffee Stout’. Poured a dark black, with red edges and a smaller sized tan head. Aromas of coffee, roast, and light chocolate. Tastes of coffee, roast, light vanilla and chocolate. Nice bitter coffee finish. I’m a sucker for coffee beers.

[Wayne, PA] Poured an opaque black color that had a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of straight coffee bean. That’s about it, same with the taste with a bit of roasted malt, and chocolate, but with a dry, bitter, somewhat astringent finish.

I have had this one several times at the Monroeville PA location. Draft only it pours a thick dark black color with almost no head. The aroma is light coffee and chocolate. The mouthfeel is thick and rich. The flavor is bitter but less so than I would expect from this style as this is surprisingly sweet. The coffee is noticeable but not overwhelming. The beer drinks easily and pleasurably begging for a refill.

Tap - DC. Deep dark browns and blacks, small creamy brown head. As it warmed, I got notes of roasted black coffee, chocolate, cream, with some light vinous notes as well. Flavors of dark coffee and chocolate dominate, but some citric hops shine thru to keep a nice balance. Medium to full-bodied, pillow soft carbonation, silky, semi-bitter, coffeeish finish. ABV around 6.7%. Very good stout.

(DC) Creamy brown head atop black body, lovely lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee, chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, strong roasty coffee, light chcolate. Medium body. A good beer, but the coffee elements are a bit too strong for it to achieve excellence.

I had this with lunch, and I would like to try it again when I am just having a stout for a stout. Very dark appearance and roasted aroma, but the flavor it this and creamy, with the frothy head it is almost like drinking an espresso drink. I await the next time I am near a John Harvard's, so I can try it again.

a solid sweet stout. The expresso was barely tastable, but the stout was light and creamy.

WOW...I think this was the best beer I had on my trip to Boston. This stout from the Famous John Harvard's Brew House was excellent. It was a dark rich brown in color, had a coffee like smell mixed with the drak small of a stout. The rich creamy foam made this brew look ever so appiteasing. When you taste it is like a smooth rich cool black coffee but not as harsh as that would be. it has the taste of coffee and hops and malts. Like Cambells Soup Umm Umm Good!
