On tap at JH’s in Manchester CT. A wonderful light-bodied hoppy golden lager. Clean and refreshing. This one has a tad more hops than the classic German type, but is still quite drinkable an refreshing. Well made version of a very under-appreciated style.

i find the aroma and flavor of this brew to be rather bland and boring. nothing worth noting.

On tao at brew house. Poured a slightly hazy, light amber with a thin, off white collar. The aroma was mild citrus with a hint of breadiness. Flavor was weak toasted malts with a touch of citrus hops. Had a slight peppery bite in the finish. Medium bodied and a middle of the road beer.

on tap-pours a thin off white head and amber color. Aroma is light/medium malt, fruit/spice hops. Taste is sweet light/medium malt-caramel, fruit/spice hops. Towards medium body. OK/mild carbonation.

Assume this is what is called "Harvard Square Helles" in the Harvard Square location. Dull golden, with quickly receding head. Grassy aroma with sweet, malty flavor. Light carbonation, medium body.

Pretty sure this is the same....called Munich Gold at the DC location. Draft on 11-12-05. Gold bodied witha small white head. Nose is malty and bready with a light sulphur/egg note. Kind of unappetizing. Taste is better with chewy malts, light lemon notes and grass. SOme sourdough bread hints as well. Body is light with a mild carbonation feel. Finishes with more bread notes, malts, light grass and a hint of citrus. OK, I guess.

On draght at Framingham loc. on 9/22/2005 with OldGrowth. Freshly brewed on 9/20/2005, so it didnt have being old as an excuse. But an excuse it needed. Pours a ridiculously clear, filtered to all get out light yellow. No head or lacing, much resembling BMC, though not as much fizzy carbonation and perhaps not quite as light in color. Smells like a cheap, German knock off. You can smell the yeast biproduct and I know they used a German-style yeast strain, but it’s just smells, powdery, dusty, corny, papery and altogether unpleasant. Yikes. Flavor is at least, somewhat better than the aroma would let on. Watered down German lager yeast has no bite left in it, with touches of light pale grains, corn-like notes and a watery, poor body which gets even worse after it warms. Barely perceptible hoppiness, maybe a touch of watered down grassiness. I’ve definitely had worse versions, but this is still pretty bad.

Tap in Framingham. Clear golden orange color, minimal head. Aroma of wet hay and pale malts, assorted grains. Mild flavor overall, has a pleasant malt finish. Not bad, but just average altogether.

Tap at Framingham location: Poured golden yellow with a medium white head. Mild aroma of vinegar and corn with a little fruit. More corn in the palate. Okay.
