John Labatt Classic was introduced in 1983 as Canada’s only national domestic “premium beer”. It is Krausen-brewed (slow, low temperature with a secondary fermentation process) and has a longer cold-aging process. Classic uses all-malt and a unique blend of western-grown North American hops, providing a smooth, full flavour product with a true malt taste that is slightly sweet. Editor's Note: Is this only available in the US?

Again very little difference then blue or Kokanee. It’s good canadian style lager

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a hazy golden yellow color with a fast rising carbonation trying to fill a rapidly dieing bubbly head. There was barely any lacing. The smell had some cooked corn. The taste was sweet through the cooked corn. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. It comes across fairly smooth and crisp. Overall, nothing wrong and there’s nothing really out there that makes this one stand out.

The taste is very average. Nothing really stands out and there is no real unique characteristic to the taste. There is no apparent initial taste but there is a mildly malty after taste.

Meant to be more sophisticated and refined compared to other labatt products (is that really possible?) but to me the palate is slight but still angular enough to recreate the liquid form od a stale cigarette butt. Pretty unpleasant really.

341ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a 2 finger white head that dissipated almost immediately. Aroma is light grains and hops. Taste is light malty sweetness with a modest hop bitterness that finishes clean. Light to medium body and pleasant carbonation. Slightly above average for a macro lager.

Bottle. Medium carbonation. Slightly fruity aroma and flavor. One of the better Canadian lagers. Clean finish. I’d buy it if my faves weren’t available that night.

Bottle: Pours a clear yellow gold with light head. The nose is malty with some sweetness and husk. Nothing in the hop department. Thin flavor with a snappy biscuity tail. A little sweet in the finish like a non-alcohol lager.

BigBeer45 (1585) - Michigan, USA - SEP 22, 2009
Had a couple of bottles at my In-Laws, pours a clear light gold with a foamy white head, faint malt aroma and some malt bread sweetness, light malt flavor and little hop bite, a little better than the regular Labatt Blue, nice for a Summer day.

BigBen2120 (687) - Derry, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 17, 2009
12oz bottle purchased as part of a mixed 12-pack. Pours a light straw-colored translucent body with a short-lived half-inch white head. Smells sweet, slightly vegetal. Tastes vegetal, sweet, hints of bread. Very light thin mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. While initially unimpressive, this beer grows on you as you drink it. Nothing special, for sure not the best example of the style, but an easy-drinker and I wouldn’t refuse it if it were given to me.
