tombyars (1768) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JAN 4, 2013
330ml bottle (limited to 1500 bottles) poured into a chalice glass on the 2nd January 2013. Superb orange amber in colour with a thin white head. Strong sherry note in the long aroma. Resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a moist fruit loaf base with hints of orange peel, coriander, cinammon and plump raisins present in the complex rich taste. Struggled to detect any hop resins in the aftertaste though. Smooth, spicy finish with big booming, boozy sherry notes lingering in the mouth. Is this really only 5.4% as it tasted more like 7% A cracking spice ale and highly recommended.
