One of Bam's brown eyes is, in fact, black. When mischief reigns supreme, it positively glows. Dedicated to the dark side; smooth, dark, incredibly delicious as only a Jack Russell with bat wings can be.

Bottle batch 258/259. Garnet color with a tight white head. Cheesy barnyard and sourdough yeasty aroma. Light/medium body. Has a citrusy, tart lemon flavor at first, then dusty roasted malts. Very dry flavors. Brett yeast doesnt work with every beer style.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of SoLan/tertons. Pours a clear orangey brown with a tall and lively off-white head leaving some lacework. Refreshingly light Brett aroma. Light in body with dry woody accents, a vague fruitiness and a dry and lightly astringent finish. Quite refreshing. 190608

Botte #4 at Papsoes blindtasting. Cloudy orange red coloured with a huge off white head. Light acidic aroma of rubber and berries with notes of wood. Light acidic flavour of berries with notes of hops. Tart and hoppy finish.

12 oz bottle. Poured deep mahogany brown in color with a large tan frothy head. Aroma of saison yeast, citrus, raisons and a little tart. Taste is slightly sour with brett, but has notes of the citrus and dark fruits. Its overall a little dusty, musty, and nice. Solid saison characteristics, but a nice twist on the style.

Bottle. Papsoes MadsBerg homecoming blindtasting, bottle #4. Pours hazy golden orange to brown with a lacing slight tan head. Mild woody and slight spiced aroma, mild berry fruity. Flavour is woody, light acidic and spiced. Roasted to smoked flavour. Holds what seems to be a light brett note yet quite dry and not citric. Ends mild spiced and woody.

Nice head and lacing on this one. Very nice deep ruby colour. Black currents and an acetic tone on the aroma. Enticing. As with many of Jolly Pumpkins beers, too much carbonation in my opinion. It froths up in the mouth and takes away from the overall experience. Even giving the all-encompassing style of Saisons, this is more sour than Saison.

Bottle. [After party @ Papsoe, thanks buddy] hazy dark mahogany color. Lovely mix of sour, malty and fruity sweetness hits the nose. Floral sourness and mild citrus. Over the palate came strong sour notes of citrus, Bratt, some underlying toasted malt and light fruity feel. Medium to full bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated to heavy sour and sweet flavor in balance. Lingering fresh sour like fruity and somewhat spicy finish. I like this one. 7 / 3 / 8 / 4 / 16

750ml bottle from BevMo! La Mesa. Pours pure black, until held up to the light, when you see it is actually a muddy dark brown, with some significant haze. Aroma is dark fruits, with the musty, earthiness you expect from a saison or farmhouse ale, only this one is dark. The is also some tartness in the background of the aroma. Flavor is tart, musty and fruity, with very little malt. Some hop character, but subdued. Finish is complex, with a tartness and some fruit and must. A black saison, very interesting change of pace.

6/11/2008: Bam Noire (Dark Farmhouse Ale) is a light cola brown color with a large, fluffy light tan-colored head. The usual funky and tart Jolly Pumpkin aroma is accompanied by roasted malt and balsamic vinegar. The flavor is roasty and a bit on the dry (ashy-like) side. The sourness/tartness and acidity qualities are more supressed in this Jolly Pumpkin brew compared to many if not all of their other mainstay offerings. There is a touch of red wine, port, and subtle balsamic in the flavor as well as a dusting of cocoa powder. This beer has a medium body and it is crisp on the palate. Overall Bam Noire is quite good and very refreshing. It may not be quite as complex as some of the other Jolly Pumpkin beers, but it is a solid offering nonetheless and perfect for those new to Jolly Pumpkin beers or those who might be afraid or dislike some of the other more funky and sour ones...

1 pt 9.4 fl. oz. bottle (4.3% alc/vol) from jsh12bama via trade. Thanks Jason! I appreciate it. Rating #218 for this beer...

Another winner from jolly pumpkin. Got this from Pantanap. Thank you, Kan! Had some good roasted malt and chocolate characteritics mixed in with the JP house funk. Very smooth and tasty. I think I liked this better than the regular bam.
