750ml bottle, Batch 262,263. Interesting aroma, fruity, sweet, tart and very lightly roasty, with notes of red grape, black cherry, old wood, slight barnyard funk and earthiness. Deep, dark red-brown in color with a thickly foamy, light tan head and gobs of lace. Flavor is darkly fruity and tart throughout, hints of berry here and there, dry and lightly coffeeish with semi-sweet cocoa and traces of black olive, port and ash on the finish. Very well-carbonated and gently sour on the palate, body is light and airy. Certainly pleasant and seemingly unique. travita (5003) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 8, 2008
Brown color with a nice cream colored head. Smell is apples, other fruit, a little tart, and spices. Taste is tangy, fruits, some yeast. Interesting beer. Not bad a little different. darkguardian (733) - Florida, USA - JUL 6, 2008
22oz bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours an awesome dark mahogany color with a densely packed long lasting beige head. Nose is awesomely sour and funky with hints of candied fruits and spice. Heavy nose, almost like an ABT. This beer is incredibly underated in my opinion. Very unique stout like flavors up front with toasted malts giving way to a spicy finish with light sourness. Very drinkably but the palate is very full. This beer is a marvel of design. Absolutely terrific. 12many (277) - Alaska, USA - JUL 5, 2008
Bottle from bigmmartin. This wasn’t very good in my opinion. I’m not sure what was going on but there wasn’t much aroma to this at all. Just a little yeast. Extremely bland with just some very mild sourness. I’m sorry but this really didn’t taste like much of anything. More water than anything to me. I want to try this again after seeing other reviews to make sure my palate wasn’t inhibited in any way while I drank this, but for now this was extremely disappointing. Bottle: This is an overall disappointing Saison. Pretty bland, with not much to speak of as far as aroma or flavor. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t really get much taste from this beer. Of course it has a yeasty farmhouse aroma, but that’s about it. Kind of boring, but not horrible.

Well this bottle was my first adventure into the Jolly Pumpkin line of beers. And I have to say I really didn’t enjoy it all that much. I think that the sourheads wont have another member soon. The funk and tartness is just too much for me. mar (5415) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 29, 2008

Bottle (750ml) shared at ’Biegaman’s Second Annual Saison Tasting’ - courtesy of blankboy. Hazy reddish-brown with lotsa small floaties. Great aroma - very funky with some interesting sweet/sour malt notes and a subtle spiciness. Medium bodied. Flavour is milder then expected, with some controlled funkiness along with toasted malt and yeast. Very tasty, very refreshing - I could drink a lot of this! thedm (6178) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUN 26, 2008
This bottled brew from Indianapolis, IN poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized cream colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent dark golden brown colored body with strong soda pop like carbonation and a good lacing. The aroma was funky and lambic like with a mild brown malty note. The mouth feel was tingly and crisp with a sour palate. The flavor contained notes of tingly bubbly lambic like sour and mild brown malts. madsberg (11770) - Søborg, DENMARK - JUN 25, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2008 Bottled at Papsoes Blind tasting 19th. June 2008 no 4: Dark amber coloured. Unclear. Dense light brown head. Sourish aroma. Some caramel and light fruit is there as well. Flaovur sourish as well. Citrus and woods is other impressions I get. Is a bit watery and dry. Is watery and sourish in the end with light fruitnotes.
