mcberko (18556) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 30, 2015
750mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark orangey brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of oak, light tartness, and light wild yeast. Flavour is complex, with loads of oak, light tartness like a Flanders Red, and some wild yeast. Super complex, with a lovely tartness and oakiness. An archetype for Biere de Gardes out there. Fantastic.

Oakes (18467) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 19, 2012
Golden brown. No head. Cherries and brown sugar with woody notes. Mostly tart, slightly cherryish, with a woody finish. Doesn’t really bring the sugars and complexity the nose promised.

yngwie (17168) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 14, 2015
Bottle, 75cl, at Jolly Pumpkin, Ann Arbor. A hazy amber colored beer with a small, off-white head. The aroma is tad weak I think, with dried fruit notes, lemon juice, some leathery, barnyard funk and a hint of fruit caramel. It’s medium bodied and dry on the palate, quite effervescent, with flavors of dried fruit, lemon juice and funk. Grapefruit bitter. Lasting finish. Needs some temperature this one, but even then it’s not more than good. 150614

375ml bottle (Alus Celle, Riga)
Pleasantish sourish aroma, some sweetish malts, Taste similar, woody sourish aspects. Yucky soapy taste. Not what I expect from JP at all. Way too much soap to enjoy this.

brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 1, 2014
Bottle @ Bottleworks. Deep copper pour with a small off-white head. Aromas of cherry, raisin, and balsamic vinegar. Some coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts. A hint of vanilla and some caramel malts. Flavor is a nice blend of sweet and sour. Dark fruits such as raisins and black cherries. Slight grass, some green apple, too. Kind of woody. Nice.

bhensonb (15601) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 9, 2009
Bottle from Ledger’s. Pours a dark ruby with a large, creamy beige head. Aroma of sour funk (light) over plummy fruit. Impression is tart. Full bodied with frothy carbonation. Flavor is barnyard mild, lightly tart, with cherries and/or red skinned plums. Finishes smooth, slightly tart, slightly Brett, slightly fruity, and incredibly delicious.
