Bottle from batch 976, bottled on 03-26-2012: Deep dirty amber, thin sudsy off-white head, little lacing. Looks like may sours, or lambics. Very soft oak on the nose. A slight touch of fruit sweetness, but its hard to discern exactly what it is. Soft on the tongue, mild tartness, a little sweet, some oak, a little dry, with very little fruit presense. Now that its been a year, could the plums really have fallen off? Perhaps. What is left is a very straight forward solid example of a Sour Ale. Clean, simple, nothing off, but also nothing out of the ordinary. Good, but perhaps should have opened sooner? hopscotch (11526) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 19, 2013
Bottle... Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. The bouquet is fruity and yeasty – plums, brett and white bread. Light-bodied and thin with lively carbonation. The flavor delivers refreshing, earthy and fruity notes of plum, raw oak and bread crusts. Short, crisp, fruity finish. Thanks to my mother-in-law for waiting in line for this at Plum Market in Ann Arbor! Boutip (6692) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 4, 2013
Bottle: Poured a hazy orange/amber color ale with a relatively large foamy head with average retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of tart notes with light residual sugar notes also perceptible. Taste is dominated by tart notes with light Brett notes of wet leather and some vinous notes with light residuals sugar perceptible in the aftertaste. Body is about average with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not the best from this famous brewery with plums being somewhat hard to distinguish and not as funky as some other JP beers. dimenhetfield (2554) - , Florida, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Bottle shared by my good buddy Randy, you rock brotha! Wow! A Jolly Pumpkin sour that I actually like! Not trying to bash Jolly Pumpkin but I’ve never had much from them that blew me away. This one however had a nice sour tart blend that was unmistakably good. Would very much like to try again. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 1, 2013
Bottle shared by hopscotch in the lobby of RBWG. From Brad’s cooler of treats. I have no idea where my notes are for this beer but I have a potent memory of asking Eric where this beer was and if we could pop it and him saying it was in Brad’s cooler. I think I opened it. Not really your typical JP here. Less funky JP yeast character than most, more malty, some sweetness (from the plums?). I dunno. Still good, but not really what I was expecting I guess.
