3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by Irishboy. Pours dark orange brown with a slight head. Aroma is fruity, but in an unusual way. Med minus body. Flavor is very mildly sour, very mildly fruity. Sort of bland compared to most JPs. Gets a bit plummy with time.
From notes. Enjoyed this one at the Brew Crew Bash in Ann Arbor on May 21. This one was poured from a 750 mL bottle. The pour is a lighter coppery golden color with a light, light purple colored collar that stays the entire time. There is no lace as it falls down. The aroma is really, pretty bland. There is a light tartness up front with a little lemon zest and a light fruitiness. There is a good vinousness to it, but the plums are very reserved. The lacto it the definite source of souring, or at least that’s how it smells. The flavors are a little better. The plums come through a little more and offer a soft fruitiness. The lacto is still pretty dominating, but the woodiness and a light spice begin to make their way through. It’s tart and crisp, but not the big sour that I was hoping for. The mouth feel is definitely a little thin. There is a medium carbonation to go with it and it finished dry and with a lingering tart oakiness. It’s really an interesting beer, though far from the best I’ve had from Jolly Pumpkin. Aniela (4215) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 2, 2015

Bottle thanks to northernbrews for sharing. Hazy gold pour with a slight reddish tint. Very little head. Aroma is fairly faint. Some plum and berries, light brett funk and light oak. Taste has a light sweet/sour balance. Grape juice and plums with some light oak barrel. Decent overall but very tame for Jolly Pumpkin. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAR 14, 2015
Bottle: Thanks, Jeff. Deep burnt amber & copper color with a soapy gray-tinted collar. Tart lacto aroma, a bit of lemon & some mild berry which must be the plum peaking through. Light white grape, vinous oak, & mild critter funk. Flavor is very lightly tart but far from sour. Berry, faint plum, lemon, a little bit of cherry, vinous oak, some sharp cotton & Bretty funk, a touch of sweet-tart, a dash of florals & perfume with finishing oak. Dry, as most JP beers are. Nice. This beer here, this beer I had @ the Grand Tasting... Compliments of some generous soul, ffs! DrSilverworm (10000) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 21, 2014
Pours a deep golden with a small head and some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is funky and tart with some really inviting fruitiness of plum and berries. It’s at once rich and deeply funky with some lemon rind.
The flavor is a touch corky & pleasantly dry. It’s not overly sour but certainly tart and certainly fruity. It’s got some nice oak and some champagne like elements.
Really a special beer that I thought I’d never get a chance to try.
Tasted at RBSG grand tasting. 750ml bottle. Totally cloudy darker amber color. Thin ring of off-white head. Dots of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of creamy, lghter carbonation. Light dry finish. Light tart taste. Moderate sweet taste. Good oaky lemony taste. Light spice. Nice smooth yeasty (my pour was from the end of the bottle) but great mildly sour saison. Nice and hearty, relatively. Steve_0 (3818) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 20, 2014
Bottle at home with Scott. Pour is clear orange with a big white head and good lacing. Plummy, raisins, tangy, oaky, orangey, spicy, toffee, grassy, and light urine in the aroma. Taste is tart oranges, raisins, lemon notes, light lactic, wood notes, tangy, apples, and pears with a lightly tart finish. Slick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Definitely cool to try and has held up very well.
