Autumn Fire
Ale brewed with chestnut and spices
To catch a bit of soft radiance in each special bottle, we wait for fall colors to begin their bright and fleeting glow before brewing this wonderful ale under their autumn fire. Gentle amber malts lead smooth caramel notes, gently lapping against a shore of distant forgotten spice. A beer to contemplate and enjoy!

Cloudy amber with a huge head. Good lacing and rocky foam. Aroma was sour bret, oak, caramel, citrus and spice. Tangy texture and medium body. My favorite JP yet; Sweet citrus and spice, and less sour than many of their other brews.

Bottle. Thanks to mcbackus for sending me this! Gusher! Pours a cloudy orange/amber body with huge head. Aroma is of spices, nutmeg, cloves, yeast, and caramel. Flavor is sweet, spices lay down smoothly on the tongue. Well carbonated, made a small look in comparison to Choufee. Smooth and enjoyable. Finishes in a dry sweet flavor.

Bottle from my parents trip to Minnesota a year ago. Sweet! Pours a dark golden with a huge white head. Nose is pungent with nutmeg, brett, chestnuts, cinnamon. Flavor is more sour and oaky, with notes of chestnut and cinnamon. This is a really wonderful, summer, winter...enjoy anytime type of beer. Thanks again, Ron. You Rock!

bottle-thanks to vyvvy for sharing this tasty treat from the great cold northlands that are Michigan. pours cloudy orange with a smooth off-white head. nose is minty, floral and citric with some cinnamon and spices. here is where my ratings get kind of hard to read, but i have here flavors of musty oakyness with sharp carbonation with distict fruity character. lots of oakey notes on the finish. cool and tasty brew once again from JP!

Bottle from Styles aka Secret Santa. I just spilled this all over my face.

When I was first drinking this it was rather harsh, the nuttiness from the chestnut at the forefront with a really choppy bite. As it warmed, it totally mellowed out, and I can say for sure now that this is the perfect thanksgiving beer. Fuck that pumpkin shit. JPs got it all worked out.

Pours with the kind of head that makes me love beer anew. Seriously, this gives Houbblon Chouffe a run for its money. Bridges, arches, caverns, scaffolding and cell phone towers, this heads got it all. Aroma is really nutty and spicy, with pumpernickel, pineapple, stuffing, and floral european hops. Oaky flavor, broad chestnut and bagel flavors lend way to a fantastically buttery finish that is not at all offputting. Lots of notes of different spices and herbs. Deliciously drinkable and smooth. Another kickass brew from Ron. Thanks, Chris!

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2008 Rerate, 750mL bottle, batch 244,245, again courtesy of artusory. Much more tartness, better composed: bready, tart citrus, and some nuttiness. This sour version is much improved. 8.5.8.4.15=4.0 750mL bottle, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Pours a hazy, orangish-red appearance; huge, textured white head with great retention and lacing. Yeast and marshmallow in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of yeasty and bready notes; pleasant belgian profile with coriander, cardamom, and hints of butterscotch and white pepper; well-balanced and layered mouthfeel. I just wish it was a bit sour... Medium, yeasty and spicy finish. 7.5.8.4.14=3.8
