Autumn Fire
Ale brewed with chestnut and spices
To catch a bit of soft radiance in each special bottle, we wait for fall colors to begin their bright and fleeting glow before brewing this wonderful ale under their autumn fire. Gentle amber malts lead smooth caramel notes, gently lapping against a shore of distant forgotten spice. A beer to contemplate and enjoy!

Cloudy light amber color; huge head (and I start suspecting...). Sourish, infected aroma over all, maybe a bit fruity. Dry and astringent mouthfeel, sour and buttery, clearly infected. Too high and harsh bitterness. Undrinkable.

Bottle, 75cl. A dense, two-finger off-white head forms over a clear dark golden body. Pleasant aroma with fruity sourness, a spiced touch and some malty notes too. Its medium to full-bodied and with a nice carbonation level. The flavor has the same sourness, spices and a little maltyness. Pretty annoying spiced touch, I cant recognize it, but theres some allspice and herbal notes. Woody hints too. Seems very simple at first, but its really nice and tasteful. Sure a beer I could have again. And again. 140111

Bottled (Pikkulintu, 0,75 ltr). Hazy orange color, small off-white head. Very herbal, hayish, a bit perfumic nose. Sour, grapefruity, some tangerine peel, vanilla. Herbal-spicey cooking, weird beer. Its like some Fantome saisons.

A: The pour is a slightly hazed peach color with a large white head, maybe just a bit off-white. S: The nose has the signature tartness of Jolly Pumpkin with a lot of hibiscus notes to it. Quite a bit of funkiness to it with notes of hay and wet oak. Theres a bit of a lemon zest note to it, too. T: A strong flavor of chestnuts comes through and provides a strongly "meaty" flavor. The tartness here is minor, but certainly noticeable. Again, lots of floral notes, specifically hibiscus, with a bit of rose petals. Quite a bit of spice to it, also, but I dont really notice anything in particular. M: The body is medium with a medium but lively carbonation. D: Even for a Jolly Pumpkin beer, this is pretty interesting. I liked it quite a bit, but its definitely different from most of their beers.

Hazy amber colour. Fairly funky, oaky aroma. Spicy flavour, aggressively yeasty with light backing maltiness and a tart finish. Interesting but Im not big on the aggressive yeastiness.
