S: Boozy. Spicy. some clove in there. A: The beer looks great being a semi dark brown color. The carbonation is playful however is also a downfall of the beer. This is way over carbonated and a gentle pour yields an explosive head. T: Alcohol comes through a lot as does a sourness. The sour works well with other aspects such as the spiciness. A good sweetness. I like the blend between spices and other aspects. P: Medium body, average texture perhaps a little aggressive due to the carbonation. Good in short sips, bad is you let it linger. O: A solid beer. A good balance of spice and sour. Worth grabbing.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2016 Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is balsamic vinegar, banana peppers, tart fruit, spiced fruit (maybe some cloves). Taste is tart fruit, balsamic vinegar...wood and red wine. Tannic dry and bitterish finish. This is basically a less sweet version of the Duchess mixed with a dry red wine. Good but hard to hold up against the Duchess.

Bottle shared from Logan. 2011 vintage. Lively gusher. Pours cloudy, dark brown, with a giant, foamy, tan head. The aroma is toasted oak, balsamic vinegar, old leather, cloves, and molasses. Sweet and acerbic, with a mild tartness. Medium to heavy body, silky, a little thin, with lively carbonation. Im not sure if this was supposed to be a sour, but it totally works as one. Lively, smooth, and complex.

At Seattle tasting. Malty brown, creamy off-white foam. Malty sour, sweet miso, soft milk chocolate. I say tootsie roll, but this time it isnt an insult. Warm, fizzy, souring Belgian brown character. Bitter finish. Interesting.

Pours mahogany with a small beige head. Smells lightly tart, subtle spice and fruit. Taste is sour, light sweetness, Christmas holiday spice and dark fruits. Medium-bodied with a prickly texture and average mouth-carbonation, Jolly Pumpkin Noel de Calabaza finishes with a soft lingering tartness.

750 mL bottle poured at a tasting. Reddish brown color pour with an active fizz head. Dark fruit aroma, with oak and soft malt. Earthy I suppose. Flavor is juicy up front. Soft spice, oak, mixed berry and black cherry flavors that linger. Very nice beer. Enjoyed this.
