750mL Bottle. Thanks so much, Sean! Of the three in the series, this is easily the best. Stone’s is embarrassing and Nogne’s is okay. Although, I will say that I don’t absolutely love it. The sage finish tastes like a mouthful of...sage...and dust. The chestnut comes through more on this one than the others and I like that. The sourness nicely balances the sweetness and all the various spices mingle their way together for a classically overdone holiday beer. At least it’s a wonderfully potent potable for a chilly night.

Pours like dirty dish water, thick brown and murky. No real head.
Wow, amazing aroma, smells like Christmas cake, liquor, fruit and spices. Aromas of brown sugar, cinnamon, cherries and freshly cooked bread.
The flavours burst out of this beer, so juicy, yet so rich. The Christmas cake follows through, strong spices of nutmeg and cinnamon, glacier cherries and thick doughy texture.
Finish is smooth and creamy, strong alcohol warmth.

"it’s been a while since i’ve had a JP beer with a distinct enough base to tell it apart from other JP beers. the pumpkin beer for example, had practically no pumpkin flavor or aroma, just the house JP funk (which is fine, but a little repetitive at the price). this was not that way at all. juniper, sage, and caraway explode out of the bottle. the funk is there in the aroma and flavor as well, which was expected, but compliments, rather than overshadowing the spices. nice full feel, finishing very dry and fruity. well done, though the first release of this beer in 08 is still my favorite spiced ale." mkel07 (6549) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - AUG 27, 2014

Bottle thanks to NielsenRatings ! Pours a deep mahogany umber color with a finger or so of khaki foam. The nose is tart plum and cherry with rustic woodsy herbalness, touches of licorice, rye, mint... wow. This beer is complex ! The palate follows the nose with great contrast in flavors from the deep earthy spiced notes of caraway, rye, juniper, autumn leaves, wet oak, tart cherry, rotten plums... nice background acidity ! Tasted on 12/28/13 from a capped 750mL bottle obtained in a trade quite a while ago, I am very excited to finally try the last of this series. Pours opaque dark brown with a thick beige head that slowly recedes to thick, sticky lace. The nose is sour and funky with the sage coming through as a bit savory, sweet/spicy caraway, and herbal juniper with a touch of caramel malt. The flavor is the same sour and funk from the nose (a bit different than I usually expect from JP), with red wine vinegar, herbal and nicely bitter juniper, sweet and peppery caraway, and savory sage and chestnut, this beer is super complex, and very nicely balanced. The body is medium with just under average carbonation and a long, complex finish that encompasses all flavors and aromas mentioned above.
