Draught sample at MBG 2006 Summer Festival. Dark, hazy amber with a small head. Aroma is a great mixture of sweet and sour, with notes of citrus, wood, bourbon and yeast funk. Flavour is sour and woody, with caramel and vanilla, and a spritz of yeast and citrus. A really interesting and well-crafted beer. jtw (1170) - farmington, Michigan, USA - JUL 26, 2006
on tap at the MBG summer beer festival 06. apparently a twist on the mixture of bam biere and la roja, and it definitely shows characteristics of both. the bam biere lends a light aromatic element of fresh hops, and the roja gives it a strong oaky tartness. "perseguidor" is spanish for "the chaser" or "the pursuer" and the flavors follow you through slightly sour oak notes to a medium-dry finish - i’m glad i waited in line for this one. Draught. At 2006 Michigan Brewers’ Guild Festival. Ahhh, now THIS is the stuff. Hazy amber-orange with a small white head. Sweet malty aroma, fresh tangerine, a smorgasbord of yeast, very muted oak and bourbon in the background. Taste was surprisingly funky and sour (a welcome surprise), very yeasty, sharply spicy, oaky, cirtrus-juicy, with a lovely lingering sour finish. Decent body, quite astringent on the palate, decently carbonated - one of my favourites of the day, well done! jercraigs (11071) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 24, 2006
Michigan Brewers Festival 2006. Hazy amber body with a small beige head. Barrel is prominent in the aroma covering up even the slight sourness. Barrel similarly comes through heavily in the flavour, very light malt and lightly refreshing sourness. Average palate. Wood is too much for me, and drowns out much of the subtleties of the beer. 6/3/6-7/3/13-14 BBB63 (6567) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUL 24, 2006
Michigan BGF 06: Looks the part of a Flemish sour ale, a bit brownish with a small head. The aroma has notes of brett, oak casks, tart apple, orange zest, herbal hops, clove, bread and earthy yeast esters. The taste is just yummy! Sour and funky with just some light bitterness and spice on the finish. The barrel aging seems subdued IMO. Enjoyed this too much to really take good notes. Another wonderful creation by Ron (ahoy).
