4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dark with tints of red in color only when you hold to the light. Slight lingering head and lace doesn’t stick around long. Deep nose, almost begging for a little something more, slight fig, red apple, oak, slight tart cherries, and a slight wineyness(is that a word?). Rich and sour in the mouth. Never lacking from beginning to finish but progressivly going from lighter to fuller from start to finish. I like the way the acids interplay from citric to the almost underlying baslamic notes. Will be sitting on my batch 3 and 4 for years to come.
A dark dark amber pour. Dark sour tart aroma. Tongue punching sour at first but settles quick into a more fruit based acidic flavor. Very good. Thick jammy feel. Really good and complex. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - FEB 3, 2015
UPDATED: MAY 15, 2015 Bottle: Slick, oily, rich deep brown that appears black in the glass. No head, a thin ring that is completely gone in moments. Aroma of sour cherries, plums, tart lacto yeast, sour apples, light cinnamon, a hint of lemon, mild vinegar, & some faint yogurt. Very tart flavor. Super sour cherry, lemon, & slightly acetic balsamic vinegar notes leading into a dry, sharp acidity. Notes of wood, sour lacto, & dusty must towards the back-end with a sour & acidic lemon & tart cherry finish. Oily mouth feel up front with a mostly dry finish. Really good stuff. yngwie (17234) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 15, 2012
Bottle. It’s not looking very good in the glass, with its reddish brown body, and just some off-white bubbles for a head. Berries dominates the aroma, pleasant but a bit weak. Sour fruits and a touch of vinegar too. The flavor too has some vinegar, as well as lemon, dried fruits and berries. Full to medium bodied, quite tart, finishing with berry flavors that lasts. A quite nice one, but not the most impressive Jolly Pumpkin beer. 110930 BeerandBlues2 (13810) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Bottle shared by Ryan. Pours clear tawny with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is acidic fruity esters, light caramel and cookie malt, oak notes, light alcohol with spicy hops. Flavor is malt forward with acidic and tart grapes, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth and carbonation. sonnycheeba (6342) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 31, 2012

Bottle shared by Destructo, thanks Ryan I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time. Light brown pour with a small off white head. Vineyard aromas. Sweet with lots of grape and vinous notes, caramel, and green apples. Nice.. markwise (5450) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - NOV 14, 2011
Thanks to the kind soul that shared this at the last sour tasting. I am thinking it was blazer06, but I am not sure. Pours a somewhat murky brown with an off-white head. Nose is crushed aspirin, vinegar, wood, balsamic vinegar, and a nice oaky quality along with that JP Michigan yeast. Flavor is similar with vinegar and aspirin followed by JPMI yeast, and hints of vinegar. Light to medium in body and a nice sour overall. kmweaver (3208) - Petaluma, California, USA - NOV 2, 2011
12oz bottle, courtesy of pantanap. Thanks, Kan! Pours a dark cola-brown color with a reddish hue; minimal head formation, showing mostly as large, slightly oily-looking bubbles. Not a whole lot of carbonation here. A rather vinous nose, with acetone tendencies along with dark red fruits and a whiff of unrestrained ethanol. Medium bodied; some mildly tannic red fruit, plenty of core acidity (almost bracingly so), and some significant sourness that seems to be on the acetic side; either disappointing beer or a disappointing bottle. Wholly muddled. Lasting finish of lightly tannic red fruits and acetic sourness; not particularly enjoyable, though many of the core notes are endearing. I hope this is an off bottle.
