3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours dark amber with thin off white ring of a head. Nose and taste of white grapes, oak, light lemon, light caramel and light watered down cherry vinegar. Moderate sourness - hint of vinegar. Body is on the lighter side.
Saturday night bottle share. Last of the night, bottle courtesy of Toby. So much for a "small" bottle share. This blended beer works especially well with the oak aging, adding some subtle textures and smoothing out the rough (tarty) edges. Berries, funk, vegetables, a little musty, but it all comes together nicely. BuckeyeBoy (7894) - Boise, Idaho, USA - FEB 20, 2016
12oz bottle thanks to Toby. pours out copper topped with a small sand head. nose is great tart funk some berries tart funk. Taste is more of the funky barnyard fruit notes. This is nice. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - APR 18, 2015
Bottle: Thanks, Matt! Slightly hazed rich copper body, small white head fades instantly to a thin collar. Aroma has notes of cherry, mild lemon, white grape vinouness, dusty wood, small hint of yogurt, and hay. Flavor is strongly wine-like and woody. Lots of musty oak, cherry skin, faint lemon, alcohol, mild acetone. Pretty nice. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - AUG 9, 2014

How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed when over 1 year of age, bottle sent to me by tyler_mn, thanks a lot Tyler.
The look: Clear deep golden body topped by a small beige head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is full of oak, a nice farmhouse funk, horse blanket. Taste is surprisingly not too intense, dry biscuits, lots of dry oak, fresh red apple skin, dried grapes, tannins, funk, light cheesy notes, minerals sensation. Attack is juicy and the finish is bone dry. Sourness level is in the low-medium range relative to the style. It is the intense tannic dryness that makes this Sour Ale intense and not its sourness. Yes despite the intense oaky-tannic dryness I found the beer very easy to drink, but you need a glass of water to go along with the saliva-sucking beer. Quite happy to add another rating for one of my favourite breweries, but rating all Jolly Pumpkin beers I can find is not an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, because between ordering my entire beer cellar in alphabetic order on weekdays and reordering it by style on week-ends, I really don’t have time for this OCD thing.

[ Courtesy of Secret Summer Santa ]. Clear medium amber orange colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate to heavy, tart, sour, funky, wood, light horse blanket. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate acidic with a average to long duration, tart, berry - apple, wood, fruity sweet, light acetone. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Opened this at a random Sunday tasting. 12 oz. poured into a Stone IRS tulip. Pours a relatively flat murky, dirty brown in color. Nose is heavy on the la Roja GR and bam. It’s slightly medicinal, a little vinegar, earthy, and some malt. Flavor is an amalgam of malt and cherry, some light vinegar, and a little band aid. Mouthfeel is light, carbonation is obsolete, acidity is moderate, and it’s a short to medium finish. I think this it’s slightly past it’s prime, seems slightly oxidized. It’s still relatively tasty, but it should be consumed pretty quickly as I don’t see it getting better. callmemickey (4549) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 30, 2012
From notes. Hazy amber-orange body, moderate sized off-white head, soapy lacing. Vinegar, green apples, white grapes, oak, must, and lemon zest. Medium bodied, assertive carbonation, moderately acidity finish. back (2160) - Holstebro, DENMARK - NOV 16, 2012
