3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Murky brown color, small tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of sour pineapple, grapefruit, subtle lychee-like substance. Taste is softly sour citrus, brown bread. Just as tasty as its Hawaiian cousin.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on tap in at Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor.
Sobrehumano pours slightly darker than the usual pale ale. It has a golden caramel color, but there is also an amber tint in the center of the glass. A moderate white froth coats the top of the beer in the pitcher and remains on top in the glass for a few minutes as well before fading to a ring around the edge.
The aroma is fairly tart and acetic, with some berries and citrus fruit. There is a woody oak presence behind it as well.
There is just a quick fruit sweetness to the start of the flavor before it turns totally sour. Tart lemon and a bit of vinegar set the palate to how sour Sobrehumano is, allowing cherries, currants, green apples, and white grapes to dance on the tongue and add further depth. Tannic woody notes come through and add a slight astringency to the finish.
A moderate level of both lemony sour and cherry acetic acidity exists in this beer. The tartness causes gentle salivation and alerts the senses to the flavor sensations on the tongue. At the beginning of the sip the body seems to be in the middle of the spectrum, with the oak and crisp carbonation lightening the feel by the end.
This is yet another very drinkable sour from Jolly Pumpkin. It does not quite match up to Biere de Mars for me, but I would relax over a few glasses of this beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Blend 6 Bottled 05-12-2012. LAST Bottle on the shelf at Sam’s. I had no idea this beer would be distributed here so this was a nice surprise. The $20 pricetag was less of a surprise. Pours a cloudy, murky dark orange with a half inch of off white head. Nose shows some red fruits, lemon, brett, pedio, oak. Flavor is good--a lot more restrained than your typical JP, funkily speaking. Sorta reminds me of that IO Baudelaire Saison they did. Not as in your face as most JP’s but an easy drinking, remarkably clean palate.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy amber brown color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of sour cherries, light caramel, tropical fruits, bacteria, and light wood. Taste of tart cherries, vanilla, wood, tropical fruits, bacteria, and a lightly sour finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Sugar Maple, Milwaukee. Hugely sour nose...and sweet. Clear dark brown with large creamy off white head. Definitely a sour. Not a sourphile so I’m glad I didn’t spend $25 on a bottle , but $7.50 for a snifter instead. Seems fairly one dimensional.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 from PUB’R via one of my infantrymen, King I’Wana’Layawife, who was gratuitized generously for his diligence. The pour here is turbid, thick, and dark maple orangy color, with minimal off-white head. Nose is huge tangerine and pineapple juice, resiny piney hops, some funky sour mashy fruit. Tastes extremely tart and gueuezy, with sour mashy cherry fruity notes, huge tangerine, pineapple, black pepper, and funky lactosy malt. This one is like a gueuze/tropical IIPA hybrid with a Hawaiian flair, and is downright delicious.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Blend 7 bottled 5/16/2012. Poured a cloudy light amber with a small frothy off-white head, and notable lacing. Aroma of tart cherries and liliko’i fill the room upon opening the bottle and some Brett is evident as well. Taste represents a perfectly balanced sour with notes of tart cherry, liliko’i, and yeast. Wonderfully drinkable, nice mouthfeel, and generally a great sour.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml botte. Pours a redish olor with an off white head. Aroma of barrel, mild sourneess. Strong passion fruit. Some funk, some fruit, otherwise pretty nice aroma. Flavor of funk and fruity bugs, which is typical of the jolly pumpkin crews. Nice. Slick body, yeah, I’m digging this. Nice beer.
