COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour, barrel-aged version of the beer by the same name. Brewed in collaboration with Maui brewing.

Yes, Michigan and Hawaii are connected. It should be obvious to you now, as you hold this beer, and read this label. John and I designed this beer with two noble fruits from two noble states, Michigan & Hawaii. Cherries and liliko’i. Starting to see the connection? I feel it. So does John. 4391 miles may separate our breweries, but no our thirst for the exquisite. Hipa! -Ron

Working with Ron is something I’ve always want to do since I had my first Jolly Pumpkin beer. Years later, it’s a reality. Being involved on this project was an honor and a privilege. Mahalo to my MBC crew and to you, fans of craft beer! -John

Nose is fruity and tart. Taste is sensational with tons of fruity esters coming through the not so tart body. It’s great!

Thanks to the guys at CCB for sharing this one. This sour brew smelled like well water and pink lemonade to me. The taste is, of course, sour. After that initial tart goes away you are left with hints of lemongrass and sweet kiwi. It’s like a sour tropical punch.

Pours a hazy reddish gold with a paperthin head. Aroma of tropical fruits and oak. Taste follows, like a tropical drink that's sour ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Brown pour with beige head. Funky sour, tart fruit, bretty aromas. Some cherry, tartness, Brett, fruit I can’t say I have ever had in flavor, not overly sour.

Yellow color with copper hues, white head. Funky fruit nose, some strawberry, cherry, pineapple, very nice. Light crisp beer with lots of funk, flavors of light fruit and mango and nice dry finish. Good stuff.

Bottle split with James, Pat, and Bobby. Pours a nice reddish amber color with lots of white head. Real distinct jolly pumpkin nose. Nicely tart but not dominantly sour. Nice carbonation level. Not picking up much that distinguishes this from other JP offerings, but it’s still quite good.

awesome tart tropical fruit and cherry aroma. flavor is nicely tart and slightly sweet but somehow almost watery in the back. also on the thin side of medium bodied and a bit undercarbonated. could use some more malt and body. nice long finish of slight bitterness and sour cherries. some oak and must in aroma as well.

Bottle at Monks. Blend 3. Bottled 5/3/12. Cloudy copper pour with a slim foamy head. Cherries and stems. Passionfruit. Oaky notes. Nice crisp sourness. Barrel flavors are more pronounced than the fruit. Very nice.

Cherry, passionfruit sour with mild notes of pineapple from Brett C and faint toasted coconut from the barrel. Mild floral hops. Not a super intense, acidic sour. It’s somewhere between tart and sour. Nicely balanced and a pleasure to drink.

Bottle thanks to HeyKevin, not so much for giving it to me but for alerting me that it was in the same city as me via internet communication.

Pours a reddish brown color with a small head that leaves lots of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is fruity all around, in an odd way... kiwi, berry, over ripe fruit, citrus rind. Some of that classic Jolly pumpkin funk and brine going on in there as well.

The flavor is very fruity with mango, some berry (but not a lot), some citrus rind. Not overly sour, but sour none the less, woody, very dry, and very earthy.

Really quite wonderful.
