3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft at the Trappist. It pours an orange/red color with a frothy khaki head. The aroma is very fruity with equal parts cherry and passion fruit. Very tropical. There’s also some nice hints of acid and wood. Mouthwatering. The flavor is a bit watery and funky with mild tartness on the palate and a crackery malt in the finish. Very fruit forward with some wood. Light mouthfeel. Nicely balanced as an easy drinking sour.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Doug’s bottle. . Tart cherry supported by sweet yet slightly acidic passion fruit. A good changeup on the sours, initially very good drinking, though a few ounces was enough. not our favourite wild/sour of the day as not true to the style, more of a fruit beer.

Red/amber pour, puffy white head. Sour aroma, cherry, oak, lots of belgian yeast, barnyard funk. Some passionfruit in the taste, slight orange, oak, wild yeast, slight sweet vinegar. Lighter body. Lots of lace.

750ml bottle poured a cloudy red color with aromas of light funk, tart cherries, some dragonfruit, and some light lactic acid. Flavors are the same, tartness up front but not much in the end, light and refreshing.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle, blend 5 bottled 5/9/12. Pours a hazy reddish amber with a small off white head that quickly goes to a thin film and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is cherries and tropical fruit with some musty yeast and brett. Yum.
The flavor is tart acidic fruits (cherry, tropical fruit), some wood and some brett and sourness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, wow! Completely different and so much better than the Maui version. Love the sourness and brett and it brings out more fruits and complements them. A bit pricey at $20 a bottle though.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very pleasing fruity sour aroma with strawberry and orange notes. A never-ending effervescent head ad a cloudy amber color. Very nice sour. Not as much body as I would expect, but the flavor/sour/tartness is awesome.

Crushed with TheRon and Hey-Zeus. 750 mL bottle pours a hazy, opaque pink/ruby with a fizzy head. Carbonation tickles the tongue. Acidic aroma adds to the tart cherries and passion fruit. Flavor has plenty of funk complementing the fruits. As a session beer I prefer the original, but for a serious beer drinking experience, I go with this one. Both are fantastic in their own right. Great collaboration. Cheers!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tart fruity notes, somewhat indistinct but acidic and juicy, overall a vague tropical impression (which seems to be what the collaboration was going for). Mellow feel, aftertaste of light dry woodiness, typical of JP's output. Overall cohesive and pleasant.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Hazy, murky medium orange-brown body, medium clumping buff head. Tart/sour fruitskin nose with cherry pit and hints of funky esters. Tart, sour but dry body of cherry and dusty esters, light malts, and a bitter, tannic finish with lingering cherry pit and grassy notes. Nice full tartness. Great beer.

Capped 750 from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Bottled 05-03-2012. Pours slightly hazy copper with a transient beige head. Aroma is sour. Sour berries; sour light pitted fruit. Med body or better. Frothy carb. Flavor is sour light pitted fruit - perhaps with some citrus. There’s some earthiness in it. A sour ale deserving of the descriptor. Finishes sour. Very, very, nice.
