Bottle share at Leighton’s, many thanks to LKS. As ’Jolly Pumpkin Sobrehumano Palena ’Ole’, 2012 vintage, 6%. Vibrant orange, clear, pretty still, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is balsamic strawberries, some malt vinegar, redcurrant. Body is medium, smooth, soft carbonation, tooth-coating. Taste is cherry, malt vinegar, muddled fruits and dry into the finish. Pretty decent. koleminer20 (3704) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JAN 23, 2016
750 mL bottle shared by Gus at his birthday bottle share. The pour is a clear orange red with a thick collar of white head and no lace. The aroma is incredibly sour. There is a light acidity and battery acid there but the fruits are great. The flavor mimics this very well. There is a bitterness for sure. I like the sour fruits. Nicely balanced, but I would imagine this is better as it were fresh. The mouth feel is thin and light with a crisp carbonation and a lingering sourness. Good for sure

Bottle shared with koleminer20 and Gus for his birthday. 2012 vintage. Aroma is very fucking funky, almost an off manure smell, horse blanket, sour. Appearance is reddish brown, off white head. Taste is weed, some sour, dank, barnyard, meh. Mouthfeel is medium body and light to crisp carbonation, dry sour aftertaste. Overall, I thought it would be much better but it’s drinkable. Aningen vinäger men inget som stör. riktigt gott. emacgee (4680) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - NOV 14, 2015
Interesting color, reddish with an amber hue. Two fingers of off white head that settles nicely. Aroma shows cranberry and raspberry with wild notes and some wood. Very nice, bright and tannic with some acidity and fruity notes. Light bodied and dry. corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 11, 2015
Blend 1, bottled 04-26-2012
Pours a dark copper/ruby red color with burnt orange edges when held to a light. Completely still with no head or lace.
Musty aroma with a nice blend of barrel, earthy funk, vinous fruit and subtle vinegar. At first the oak and funky bugs dominate but as it warms the cherry juice and other dark fruit notes come to the forefront. Subtle acetone but more of a vinegar presence than solvent.
Thinner bodied than expected with soft carbonation but not as still as it looks. Slight herbal/medicinal presence with strong cherry juice and dark berry flavor. The funky yeast and barrel presence are very subtle, taking a back seat to the sweet vinous fruit notes. Not very sour or funky with a subtle acetic quality in the finish. Kind of watered down with low carbonation and a one dimensional flavor profile making this collaboration beer pretty boring. Disappointing offering from Jolly Pumpkin.
