In short: A very tannic, oaky and semi-funky Flemish style sour ale. Very goodthirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 12, 2011
How: Bad-ass 1L flip-top growler sent to me by sarro, thanks a lot Kyle
The look: Clear burgundy body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose has some of the typical JP funk, dark cherries and some other red fruits. Taste starts fruity (dark cherries, red apple skin, dark grapes) but quickly turn very tannic, mouth puckering, extra dry. The most tannic and oaky of all the JP I’ve had and I don’t why that it since this beer is supposedly a blend of other beers I know that are far less tannic and oaky. Flavor-wise there was definitely a lot of classic Flemish Sour going on here except that it was a bit funky. I liked this beer a lot but I still prefer more of the regular lineup of Jolly Pumpkins. JP is one of my absolute favorite brewery and I would love to drink each and every JP beer, which is impossible with me living in Montreal. Apparently people always want what they cannot get, this is bullshit, I cannot get Danny DeVito to take me from behind and I’m perfectly fine with that.
(Growler thanks to bu11zeye) well carbonated, brown-orange pour with just a few bubbles lingering as head. Nose is acidic, tingling, tangerine, wood barrel when swirled, currants and just a touch metallic. Taste is very tart, wood barrel, currant, touch of cocoa, cherry, well carbonated, and a bit of an acidic finish. Alcohol is huge in the palate linger. auerbrau (3206) - Ithaca, New York, USA - SEP 27, 2011
From a growler. Tangy, herbaceous aroma with a slight hint of acetic. Flavors are rich and broad. There’s a great combination of acidity and toast. Great dark, roasted touches in the finish. A slight funky bitterness over the top. Complex. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - SEP 25, 2011
Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this growler.
The beer pours a brownish-red color with a small white head. The aroma is full of tart apples, tart cherries and some brown sugar and toffee. The flavor is extremely acidic. I get a lot of very sour fruit (mainly apples, lemons and cherries) as well as some brown sugar and toffee. I also get a little bit of yeast and funk which compliment the other flavors very nicely. There is a little bit of vinegar flavor as well, but it is hidden in the back. Medium mouthfeel and light carbonation. A very nice sour. patrick767 (4178) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 24, 2011
draft in Ann Arbor awhile back - Pours red with a lingering head. It has an assertive, sour, dark fruit aroma with wild yeast funk. The flavor is tart with berries, cherries, and lots of funk. Delicious!

Multiple samples from the Growler graciously shared @ the Jackie O’s release. THANKS!!! Apparently this growler sat in a refridgerator since the release and It really held up well. Clear amber por with a thin off white head. Aroma is lactic acid, lemon, green apple and brett. Nice acidity and fairly complex showcasing JP’s house character. Growler via mattmc1973. Pours a mostly clear deep amber with some reddish highlights and a small bubbly off white head. Nose was tart dark fruits, dry oak and a touch of vinegar. Flavor held a bit of acetone but not too bad, medium tart on the palate. Cavie (4805) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUL 30, 2011
Growler courtesy bu11zeye. Pours a clear dark golden to orange color with light carbonation. Aroma is lightly sour, easy fruit but remains fairly subtle. Flavor is lightly soured with some easy grains. Dry notes and finishes tart. Light tingle continues through the finish. mattmc1973 (479) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUL 15, 2011
Growler poured into a tulip. Pours a clear orange/brown with thin tan head and lively carbonation shooting up the sides of the glass. Wonderful aroma of apple cider vinegar, cherries, grapes, caramel, oak, and the typical JP funk. Taste is quite tart and moderately sweet, with crisp and smooth carbonation. Finishes very dry. This is a really tasty beer. bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUL 13, 2011
(Growler) Pours a clear orangish brown body with a moderate beige head. Aroma is quite acidic, vinegar, cherry, stone fruit, sour apple, and caramel. Flavor of lemon, signature JP funkiness, raisins, and some herbs.
