The fourth in our Bam Farmhouse series, and perhaps our most adventurous; a traditional farmhouse style hefeweizen. Weizen Bam seamlessly blends traditional German style hefeweizen yeast with our own local wild and sour cultures, for a melange of the most flavorful sort. Ruddy golden, with yeast driven esters of banana, spicy clove, and nutmeg all wrapped up with a generous dose of good-natured rapscallion delight.

Pours a lightly hazy golden with a white rim on top that leaves low lacing. Nose is of dried leaves and cereals. Taste is lightly tart and a bit citrus. Light wheat protein. Some white wine impressions. Body is light to medium, carbonation medium-high and mouthfeel is a bit weak and thin. Overall I thought it was OK but not much more.

How: Bottle (750 ml) at czar’s place. Bought from Craftshack. Old bottle?

>>> A bland and disappointing Jolly Pumpkin with not much of the advertised flavors (banana, cloves, nutmeg).

- Slightly hazy pale yellow-golden with a small ring of white foam and little to no lacing.
- Lemony and herbal hops forward but not much else.
- Where are the banana, clove and nutmeg?
- Body is light and on the watery side. Herbal and rather bland finish.
- One of the most disappointing Jolly Pumpkin I have had. Not much complexity here. Moderate sourness.

Flavors: Lemon, herbal notes, cheesy presence, old rag.

pours unclear light yellow with a small creamy white cap, some retention and lacing. old grassy hops, strawberries, light acidity - lactic mostly but also lemony; mineral sancerrois white wine; woodsy and spicy. light carbonation, light body - watery; dry and tart grassy-herbal finish. boring and poor here character - nice white wine features though.

Bottle shared by Sebilinz at RB Linz Tasting, many thanks! Pale golden color, low white head. Decent and good balanced, sourly aroma, only hints of wheat in the nose. Some barrel notes. Flavor is sourly, light barrel notes. Dryness, some hop and wood bitterness. Refreshing, clean nice.

750mL bottle. Pale, straw yellow pour with medium white head. Barnyard funk and chardonnay in the nose, with some minerals and hay. Mouth is medium-light, tart, crabapple, bread, lemongrass. The tartness is reminiscent of a Berlinerweiss, and is a bit less complex than other JPB beers I’ve had. Not bad, though no idea where the hefeweizen character was supposed to show up... I’m not getting anything remotely like clove or banana.

750 ml bottle shared by Sebilinz at RB Linz Tasting, thanks!
Golden-orange, hazy body, with a small, frothy, white head.
Aroma of barnyard, sweet and sour fruits, oak, bread, some sweet malts.
Tastes follows this, with some leathery notes.
Quite light mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes sour, with oak, earth, some fruits, some leather.

Really nice. Very refreshing, with a well balanced sourness and lovely oak notes. I don’t get much of the wheat though. Overall a very enjoyable sour ale.

Wheatie light floral soap aroma has a fresh perfume quality to it. Hazy, light yellow white body with quick foamy white bubbles. Fizzy wheat and zippy lime zest flavour is nice and fresh. Light body is smooth. Quite enjoyable
